MDSEZBATHLFT
Description
The Medline EZ Bath Lift, model MDSEZBATHLFT, is a powered seat that lowers you into the bathtub and raises you back to the rim.
What does it do and how does it work?
- Up raises the back, then the seat. Down reclines the back to at most 40 degrees. Let go and it stops.
- Four suction feet hold it on a smooth tub floor. The user limit is 308 lb (140 kg).
- Side flaps lie on the rim so you can move across from the side.
- The hand-control battery charges in about 1 hour from the low-charge light.
Who is it for, and who should choose something else?
Choose it when you can sit up, still have some arm or leg use, and need help over the tub wall. It is not a step, a climbing aid, or a lifting platform.
If you can lift your legs over the wall, a bath bench may be enough. A carer with a sling needs a patient lift.
Will it fit?
The floor must be smooth, flat, dry, and clean. Remove any non-slip mat. Do not use a napped surface. The bottom must be longer than 31.5 in and 11 to 24 in wide.
At 3.2 in up, the tub must be wider than 16.5 in. Inside height must be under 17.9 in, or 18.7 in only with height adapters. The top must be under 27.9 in outside and 24.8 in inside.
Seat height is 2.6 to 17.9 in. Depth is 19.7 in. Width is 14.8 in without the flaps and 27.9 in with them.
Using it day to day
Screw all four suction feet fully in, straps out. Both locking hooks must engage, blue dots visible, and the drive must sit fully in. Keep your hands clear of the scissors.
Open the flaps and check they lie flat before you sit. Charge only in a dry room, with the supplied charger, not in the bathroom. If it will not stop, press emergency stop or unplug the hand control. Down is then blocked for about 15 seconds. Bathroom items are not returnable: see the return policy.
What does it work with, and what are its limits?
The heaviest piece is the seat unit at 15 lb (6.8 kg). Without the hand control the lift is 23 lb (10.5 kg).
The hand control may be under water briefly (IP X72). The drive is for jets only (IP X61). Do not submerge the drive. Run it for 2 minutes, then rest it for 18 minutes. Rinse with warm water. No high-pressure cleaner on the drive.
Have it checked at least every 24 months. The 5-year design life is not a warranty term. See the Warranty tab.
How does it compare?
The Bellavita is another powered tub seat. More seats are on the bath lifts page. Wrong tub size: see bathroom modifications or a free home assessment.
Frequently asked questions
Are seat covers included?
No. Covers are optional. If one is fitted, wash it at no more than 40 C (104 F) and do not tumble dry.
Can I replace the battery?
No. The battery stays sealed inside the hand control. Opening that control voids the warranty.
Does a red light mean I am stuck in the tub?
No. On Down, a red light means the seat will not lower. It can still rise so you can get out, then charge it.
