Description

The Drive Deluxe Aluminum Bath Chair RTL12202KDR is a fixed shower chair with a back for someone who can step into the tub or shower. Its corrosion-proof aluminum frame weighs 7 lbs (3.2 kg) and is rated 300 lbs (136 kg).

What does it do and how does it work?

  • Seat and back: a plastic seat 19.25 by 11.5 in (49 by 29 cm) with a backrest; the seat depth sets in one of two holes on the frame.
  • Frame: corrosion-proof aluminum, four legs, no arms.
  • Height: push-pin legs adjust in 1 in (2.5 cm) steps; set all four to the same hole.
  • Tips: angled, slip-reduction rubber tips sit on the floor.
  • Assembly: thumb screws join the back, seat and legs, with no tools.
  • Folding: the frame does not fold.

Who is it for, and who should choose something else?

  • It suits a person who can step into the tub or shower and wants a back while sitting.
  • It suits a bathroom where the chair stays set up; it weighs 7 lbs (3.2 kg).
  • Choose a folding chair if it has to be stored between baths.
  • Choose a transfer bench if the person cannot step over the tub wall.

Will it fit?

  • The seat is 19.25 by 11.5 in (49 by 29 cm); check it against the tub or shower floor.
  • All four tips must touch the floor at once, so the floor has to be level.
  • The seat depth sets in one of two holes on the frame; choose the hole before tightening the screws.
  • The 300 lb (136 kg) limit is for sitting.

Using it day to day

  • Assemble on a flat surface: the B leg section fits the B seat groove, the A section sits over it, then the L-shaped back supports and the remaining thumb screws.
  • Tighten every thumb screw, then check them periodically.
  • Push the legs in, set all four to the same height, and pull or push each leg to confirm the pins are locked.
  • Clean with mild soap and warm water, and wipe the chair dry after each use.
  • Check the tips for rips or wear, and replace any damaged or missing tip.

What does it work with, and what are its limits?

  • Use it on a flat tub or shower floor; in a tub, keep the tips off the tub walls.
  • Do not stand on the chair.
  • It has no arms or clamps and does not fold.
  • Replacement push buttons (12002PB), tips (12011SS) and a hardware pack (12202KD-FHP) are sold as parts.
  • Limited lifetime warranty; see the Warranty tab.

How does it compare?

More bath chairs and benches.

Frequently asked questions

Does it come apart for storage?

The back, seat and legs unscrew, but the chair is built to stay assembled and does not fold.
