Description
Drive 1222P is an M-shaped assist handle that slides under a home mattress and straps to the bed base. It gives a mobile person something to hold when sitting up, turning or getting in and out of bed.
Who is it for?
- A mobile person who needs balance help to sit up, move or transfer beside the bed.
- It is not for someone with poor mobility or someone permanently confined to bed.
- It is not a restraint, not full-body support and not a barrier to stop someone leaving the bed.
- The user limit is 300 lb (136 kg). A narrow bed can tilt under a full-body load.
Which beds it fits
- Home-style beds with a box spring. The strap is sized from single through king.
- Do not clamp it to a moving part of a care or hospital bed.
- Some care, institutional and hospital beds can take it only when the handle and straps stay off every part that moves.
How is a gap kept from opening?
- Slide the rail under the mattress. Tighten the long strap under the base and through the buckle.
- Use two crossbars for the low profile, or three for a thick mattress. With two, the H bar is left out.
- Keep the mattress tight against the handle with no gap. Two handles will not both fit if the bed base is wider than the mattress.
- Check that gap at least daily. A gap there can cause life-threatening entrapment.

Drive Medical warrants the M-Rail home bed assist handle (1222P) to be free of defects in materials and workmanship for the lifetime of the product, for the original consumer purchaser.
- Term: lifetime limited.
- Excludes failure from owner misuse or negligence, and normal wear and tear.
- Excludes non-durable parts that wear and need periodic replacement, such as grips and rubber accessories.
