Description
The Rotec VersaTech 1100 ULB is a bariatric ultra-low hospital bed made in Canada with an 1100 lb (500 kg) safe working load.
What does it do and how does it work?
- The deck runs from 8.5 to 32 in (21.6 to 81 cm).
- Backrest to 70 degrees, thigh to 32 and foot section to 16 degrees.
- Trendelenburg and reverse Trendelenburg tilt are on the controls.
- Press-button width expanders take 36 to 48 in mattresses.
- Tool-free length expanders take the deck from 80 to 84 or 88 in.
- Two pairs of half-length rails carry the patient controls; the footboard nurse control locks functions.
- A central brake with directional function, 5 in antistatic casters and bumpers.
- Electric and mechanical CPR, underbed lights, a nurse call port and a 2.85 Ah battery.
Who is it for, and who should choose something else?
- For an adult with BMI 30 or more and a weight of 250 to 1000 lb (114 to 454 kg).
- For a hospital or other supervised medical facility, not a private home.
- Not for a child, a BMI under 30, or a patient with behavioral issues.
- For a lighter resident, a 600 lb bed may be enough.
Will it fit?
- Mattress widths 36, 39, 42 or 48 in; the platform itself is 35, 38, 41 or 47 in wide.
- Mattress lengths 80, 84 or 88 in (203, 213 or 223 cm).
- Overall length is 93-1/8 in (237 cm) at 80 in and 101-1/8 in (257 cm) at 88 in.
- The bed weighs 580 lb (263 kg) without accessories.
- Use a mattress up to 6 in (152 mm) thick. Staff may use 8 to 9 in only when a clinician accepts the lower rail height.
- Set the bed at least 5 in (127 mm) from the wall.
Using it day to day
- Raise a rail and try to move it sideways; it must lock.
- Rails are for accidental falls only; never use them as a restraint or to help turning.
- Extend the platform to the mattress size and press the mattress into the retainers.
- Check the foot section extension locks at the 84 or 88 in position before use.
What does it work with, and what are its limits?
- The mattress must match the platform; a mismatch can cause fatal entrapment.
- The 1100 lb (500 kg) total includes the patient, trapeze and IV pole.
- An integrated scale with bed exit detection is optional.
- Frame 10 years, motors and electronics 2 years, other parts and accessories 1 year.

Rotec warrants the VersaTech 1100 ULB bariatric bed to the original purchaser from the date of purchase.
- Frame: 10 years.
- Motors and electronic components: 2 years.
- Manufacturing defects and accessories: 1 year.
- Replaced parts carry only the rest of the original warranty.
- Excludes negligence or improper use, modifications, and accessories or replacement parts not authorized by Rotec. Proof of annual preventive maintenance may be requested.
