Description
The Maple Leaf SuperTilt (WM0001111) is a steel tilt wheelchair on the oval frame, with 0 to 45 degrees of tilt and an attendant release.
What does it do, and how does it work?
- An attendant operates the single-release dual-cylinder tilt through 0 to 45 degrees of infinite adjustment; a Power-Tilt option is available.
- Steel oval frame with anti-tippers and an adjustable stroller handle as standard.
- Seat 14 to 18 in (36 to 46 cm) wide, 16 to 18 in (41 to 46 cm) deep and 13 to 18.25 in (33 to 46 cm) high.
- Overall width is the seat width plus about 9 in (23 cm), so an 18 in seat is about 27 in (69 cm).
- 50 lbs (22.7 kg) overall, including armrests, footrests and wheels.
- Heavy-duty packages reach 500 lbs (227 kg).
Who is it for, and who should choose something else?
- A rider up to 250 lbs (113 kg) whose attendant tilts them, or a heavier rider in a quoted heavy-duty package up to 500 lbs (227 kg).
- This is the oval frame. The square-frame SuperTilt tilts to 35 degrees, and the Power Plus SuperTilt Plus is another maker's chair.
- Needs a different tilt layout: tilt-in-space wheelchairs.
Will it fit?
- Standard seat 14 to 18 in wide and 16 to 18 in deep; seat height 13 to 18.25 in.
- Add about 9 in (23 cm) to the seat width, then measure the doorways the chair must pass.
- Larger seats and heavy-duty packages are quoted with their own measurements and rating.
- Measure hip width, hip to knee and knee to heel in shoes, or book a free home assessment.
Using it day to day
- The attendant releases the tilt, sets the angle and locks it again; the rider stays seated. The Power-Tilt option gives the attendant a control.
- Pin-style or plug-in footrests are chosen on the order form; anti-tippers and the stroller handle come standard.
- Optional frame choices include a recline back, an expandable frame, endomorphic back canes and a 12 in inside-frame rear wheel.
- The chair is built to the order form; timing is confirmed with you.
What does it work with, and what are its limits?
- 250 lbs (113 kg) is the standard rating; a heavy-duty package is quoted separately and can reach 500 lbs (227 kg).
- The oval frame tilts to 45 degrees; the square model stops at 35.
- The 50 lb figure is the overall chair with armrests, footrests and wheels.
- Do not use a capacity above 250 lbs without the heavy-duty package.
Which version should I choose?
- Oval frame (this model) or the square frame; Power-Tilt and recline options.
- Heavy-duty package, expandable frame and pin or plug-in footrests.
How does it compare?
- The Quickie Iris is an aluminium tilt chair with 40 or 55 degree ranges.
- The Ki Mobility CR45 tilts 0 to 45 degrees and takes 300 lbs (136 kg).
