The MK 8A24 is a 12 V 79 Ah sealed AGM battery in a Group 24 case, with a U terminal.
Which devices take a Group 24 AGM battery?
Group 24 is the case size, not a fit guarantee. The device has to take a Group 24 AGM battery with a U terminal, and the compartment has to clear the case below.
Pride's Pursuit XL lists a 75 Ah Group 24 option. This battery is 79 Ah, so check that chair and its charger before you use the higher capacity.
What must match the old battery?
- Case: 10.90 x 6.56 x 9.32 in over the terminals (277 x 167 x 237 mm).
- Terminal: U, an SAE post plus a threaded stud. Match the cable ends.
- Hold-down and cable reach. A taller case can foul the lid.
- Chemistry: AGM, not gel. The 8A27 is a longer Group 27 cell at 92 Ah.
How many do you need, and how are they charged?
One battery. A 24 V device uses two. Replace both at once, and do not mix a new battery with an old one. Use the device's own charger on its AGM setting.
Can you fly with it?
MK rates the 8A24 non-spillable under ICAO, IATA and DOT rules. The airline still has to approve the device and the battery.
What warranty comes with it?
The maker's terms are in the Warranty tab. Keep it charged and store it indoors.
How do you recycle the old battery?
At 52 lb (24 kg) it is over Ontario's 5 kg collection limit. Take it to a household hazardous waste depot.

Is 8A24 a gel battery?
No. It is absorbed glass mat AGM, not gel.
Does Group 24 guarantee fit?
No. Check the compartment, the U terminal and the hold-down.
Do I need a special charger?
Use the device's charger on its AGM setting. An automotive trickle charger is not a substitute.

Warranty details
East Penn Manufacturing warrants the MK 8A24 battery against failure from a defect in materials or workmanship from the date of sale, and replaces a failed battery with the same model free of charge during the free replacement period.
- Free replacement period: 12 months, or 3 months in full electric vehicle use.
- Covers the original purchaser only; a replacement battery carries the rest of the original period.
- Keep the purchase invoice and bring it with the battery to the place of purchase.
- Excludes batteries that are only discharged, removal and installation labour, batteries that are opened, frozen, neglected or abused, wrong electrolyte or additives, failures caused by a faulty electrical system, and incorrect installation or charging.
