Description
The EZ-ACCESS SUITCASE Singlefold, sold in Canada as the Suitcase Signature Series Ramp, is a single fold ramp: one aluminium piece that folds in half and carries like a suitcase.
Who is it for?
- Wheelchair or scooter users crossing a curb, one to three steps or a vehicle sill.
- Someone who can lift it whole: up to 47 lbs (21 kg) at 8 ft.
- Not permanent. For a full storey, see a porch lift or stairlift.
- For a door sill under about 2.5 in (6 cm), a rubber angled entry mat is simpler.
How long a ramp do you need?
- Measure the rise to the top of the step or sill. At 1:12, allow one foot of ramp per inch: a 6 in (15 cm) sill wants 6 ft; 5 ft is about 1:10.
- Above about 8 in (20 cm), even 8 ft is steeper than 1:12.
- The published usage guidelines are steeper than 1:12: a limit for short, supervised crossings.
- Book a free home assessment if the rise or run is unclear.
Will your chair or scooter fit?
- Measure the device's overall width, wheels included, against the 30 in (76 cm) deck. No wider SUITCASE exists.
- The 800 lbs (363 kg) rating includes the person and device.
- The top plate reaches 3 in (8 cm) onto the landing; the Top Lip Extension takes it to 9 in (23 cm) over a sill.
Safe use limits
- Use it only with a qualified helper, a lap belt on, within the slope your device manual allows.
- Anchor the top plate with the supplied clevis pins or your own hardware for anything but a temporary setup.
- Never use it covered with ice, snow, dirt or leaves; sweep it first. No performance on snow or ice is claimed.
Compare
- SUITCASE Advantage Series: separates into two sections of 6 to 15 lbs (3 to 7 kg), 2 to 6 ft, with an applied surface.
- SUITCASE TRIFOLD AS: folds to half the length and width, and reaches 10 ft (305 cm).
- More: ramps, portable wheelchair ramps.
Frequently asked questions
Can two ramps be joined for a longer run?
No. It cannot be connected to another ramp. For a longer run, see the TRIFOLD AS or a modular ramp.
Are handrails available?
No. For handrails, see the solid surface portable ramps, such as the GATEWAY 3G.
Will it work for a minivan or SUV?
Some, as a boarding aid. Check the length guidance for your vehicle and measure your own sill first.
