Description
The Drive Poly-Fly TR18 is a folding aluminum chair that works as a self-propelled wheelchair or a companion-pushed transport chair; its 24 in rear wheels come off and it rolls on 8 in rear wheels.
What does it do, and how does it work?
- 24 in (61 cm) quick-release wheels with hand rims for self-propelling; remove them and the 8 in (20 cm) rear wheels carry the chair in transport mode.
- Two sets of wheel locks, one for each rear wheel size, and anti-tippers included.
- The aluminum frame folds side to side; the back folds down and locks upright automatically.
- Padded desk-length arms detach with a release button; the footrests swing away, lift off and have composite footplates with heel loops.
- 34 lbs (15.4 kg) with the 24 in wheels.
Who is it for, and who should choose something else?
- An adult up to 250 lbs (113 kg) who self-propels at home but needs a companion on longer outings, or a family wanting one chair for both.
- Over 250 lbs (113 kg): bariatric wheelchairs.
Will it fit?
- Seat 18 in (46 cm) wide by 16 in (41 cm) deep, with a 16 in (41 cm) back.
- Seat to floor is 19.5 in (49.5 cm) only; there is no lower setting.
- Open, it is 24.5 in (62 cm) wide and 42 in (107 cm) long; folded, 42 x 12 x 37 in (107 x 30.5 x 94 cm) with the footrests and 24 in wheels on.

Using it day to day
- To self-propel, press the axle button and slide each 24 in wheel into the upper receiver; the 8 in wheels stay on.
- Open the chair by tilting it to one side and pressing down on the seat rails; fold it by lifting the footplates and the seat.
- Lock both rear wheels and turn the casters forward before a transfer; the arms detach for a sideways transfer.
- Set the footrest length with the rider seated and keep the lowest point at least 2.5 in (6.4 cm) off the floor.
What does it work with, and what are its limits?
- 250 lbs (113 kg), and the chair is not a seat in a motor vehicle.
- No hand brakes are on the push handles; the two wheel-lock pairs are the brakes.
- Do not step on the footplates, and ask a qualified professional about ramps.
- No cushion is included; order an 18 x 16 in cushion.
Which version should I choose?

- Swing-away elevating legrests are optional; we confirm the correct part before ordering.
How does it compare?
- The Lightweight Expedition weighs 19 lbs (8.6 kg), takes 300 lbs and is push-only.

How is it different from a transport chair?
A transport chair has only small rear wheels and needs a companion; this chair adds 24 in hand-rim wheels so the rider can self-propel.

Drive's parts diagram groups parts by serial range; the serial number is on the cross frame beneath the seat.
What maintenance does it need?
Wipe and dry it, wax the metal monthly, clean the upholstery with mild soap and check the wheels monthly for side play.

Drive Medical warrants the Poly-Fly wheelchair and transport chair (TR18) to be free of defects in materials and workmanship for the lifetime of the original consumer purchaser.
- Frame and durable parts: limited lifetime, original purchaser only.
- Not covered: non-durable parts that wear and need periodic replacement, such as rubber accessories, casters and grips.
- Excludes failure from misuse, negligence or normal wear and tear.
