Jazzy Select 6 Power Wheelchair by Pride Mobility

The Pride Jazzy Select 6 was a mid-wheel power wheelchair with a 300 lb (136 kg) rating, six wheels in contact with the ground and an older Active-Trac suspension design. Pride's Canadian sheet lists 10-inch drive wheels, a 23.5-inch width and up to 4 mph. The item number we have names a different EVO 613 model, so no new Select 6 order is offered until the chair and its remaining supply are verified.

Description

The Pride Jazzy Select 6 was a six-wheel, mid-wheel power chair for a 300 lb (136 kg) rider. It is a different chair from the Jazzy EVO 613, so no new Select 6 order is offered until the exact chair and its remaining supply are verified.

Who did the Select 6 suit?

  • A rider needing a compact turn around home furniture, within the 300 lb limit.
  • A rider who wants a full-size base with a high-back seat, not a folding travel chair.
  • A buyer comparing a remaining unit with a current power chair; check fit and parts on the actual chair.

Will it fit?

  • The base is 23.5 in wide and 35.375 in long, with a 21.875 in turning radius; measure doorways and the tightest turn.
  • Seats came 16 in wide by 16-18 in deep, 18 by 18-20 in, or 20 by 18-20 in, up to 20 by 20 in.
  • The seat post has three height positions 1 in apart. A separate power elevating seat runs 22.5-26.5 in and does not swivel.
  • Clearance is 1.75 in overall but 0.75 in at the motor bracket, so kerbs need care.

How does it drive?

  • Two in-line motors drive 10 in solid mid wheels, with 6 in casters front and rear; the Active-Trac beam keeps six wheels down.
  • Top speed is 4 mph (6.4 km/h) from a 40 amp PG GC3 controller, with regenerative braking and a disc park brake.
  • It climbs no more than 6 degrees and no curb over 2 in, driven square on and never in reverse.
  • Two 12 V U-1 sealed lead-acid batteries, AGM or gel, weigh 25 lb each. Range was up to 15 miles (24 km) on a new pack under test conditions.

Seat and controls

  • The comfort high-back seat has replaceable covers, a solid seat pan, limited recline and a 60 in lap belt.
  • The in-line joystick uses a fixed bracket; a swing-away mount, elevating legrests, swing-away footrests and a VR2 control were options.

Charging and safe use

  • Charge 8-14 hours with the 3.5 amp off-board charger; a new pack needs another full charge before you rely on range.
  • Plug straight into a wall outlet, without an extension cord, and never charge a frozen battery.
  • It is rated IPX4 for splashing water but must not be used in fresh or salt water; dry it before charging or storage.
  • Never sit in the chair in a moving vehicle: it is not a vehicle seat and the lap belt is not a vehicle seat belt.
  • Use freewheel only on level ground with an attendant; the brakes are released in freewheel.

What should be checked on a remaining unit?

  • The drive wheel size identifies the base: this Select 6 has 10 in mid wheels, while the EVO 613 uses 13 in.
  • Check the battery date and test the pack, confirm any power elevating seat, and inspect the seat, joystick and wiring.
  • Confirm seats and parts before you depend on them.

How does it compare?

Frequently asked questions

Is Select 6 the same as EVO 613?

No. They have different drive wheels, width and speed. We confirm the exact model before you order.

Does every Select 6 elevate?

No. There was a separate elevating-seat version. Inspect the particular chair and its controls.

Can an older battery still travel 15 miles?

That was a new-chair test maximum. A remaining chair needs a current battery and a range check.
