Description
The Drive Airgo ProCare IC (700-525 and 700-625) is a chrome steel folding wheelchair for shared and clinical use, with contact points that wipe and disinfect easily.
What does it do, and how does it work?
- Five contact points are non-porous: handgrips, handrims, wheel lock levers and armrests.
- A clip-on chart holder detaches and is machine washable.
- The chrome-plated steel frame folds on a cross-brace and runs on sealed bearings.
- 24 in (61 cm) mag wheels with solid tires; 8 in (20 cm) casters with three fork positions.
- Pull-to-lock wheel locks, and a rear tipping lever for an attendant.
- Black flame-retardant naugahyde upholstery; the chair is latex-free.
Who is it for, and who should choose something else?
- For a home, clinic or care setting where one chair serves more than one person.
- For one user who wants a lighter chair, see the Cruiser X4 at 33.5 lbs (15.2 kg).
- For a companion-pushed chair, see the Airgo Comfort-Plus XC.
Will it fit?
- Seat 16, 18, 20 or 22 in (41, 46, 51 or 56 cm) wide, 16 or 18 in (41 or 46 cm) deep, by model.
- Seat to floor 20 or 18 in (51 or 46 cm); back 16 in (41 cm); handle 36 in (91 cm).
- Open width 25 in (63.5 cm) with an 18 in seat and fixed arms; folded 12 to 13 in (30.5 to 33 cm).
- Chair weight 49 to 66 lbs (22.2 to 29.9 kg); capacity 300 lbs (136 kg), including anything carried.

Using it day to day
- To fold, raise the footplates, lift the seat front and back and pull the far armrest.
- Footrest length is set with a bolt and locknut; footplates swing away and lift off the hinge pins.
- Disinfect the chrome weekly: leave a non-corrosive antibacterial cleaner on for 30 seconds, then wipe.
What does it work with, and what are its limits?
- No roads, and no rough, sandy, oily, wet or icy ground; no slope over 9 degrees.
- Anti-tippers are separate and needed on inclines; keep the footrest 2.5 in (6.4 cm) off the ground on a descent.
- Wheel locks are not brakes. Do not ride in a vehicle unless it is properly equipped.
Which version should I choose?
- 700-525 is the 16 in chair and 700-625 the 18 in, both with fixed full arms; other items take detachable full or desk arms.
- Choose swing-away footrests or elevating legrests with calf pads.
How does it compare?
- The Cruiser X4 is 33.5 lbs (15.2 kg) with quick-release axles.
- The Airgo Comfort-Plus XC is a transport chair for a companion to push.
- See other standard wheelchairs at lower weights.
Frequently asked questions
Can the seat height be changed?
Yes. The rear axle has a top and bottom position and the caster three fork positions; adjust the anti-tippers after.
What tools do the adjustments need?
4 and 6 mm Allen keys, a Phillips #2 screwdriver, and 8, 10, 13 and 17 mm sockets.
What if it has been stored for months?
Inspect it before use after three months in storage; a dealer inspection is due every six months.
