Description
The Drive Aluminum Transport Chair (ATC17 and ATC19) is a folding chair built for a companion to push, in a 17 in (43 cm) or 19 in (48 cm) seat.
What does it do and how does it work?
- Aluminum frame at 19 lb (8.6 kg), with a cast hinge that lets the back fold down.
- 8 in (20 cm) composite wheels front and rear with solid rubber tires; no hand rims, so the rider cannot self-propel.
- Dual wheel locks on the rear posts, worked by the person behind the chair.
- Padded armrests fixed to the frame; swing-away footrests lift off and adjust for length.
- A seat belt is included, with black nylon upholstery on every frame colour.
Who is it for, and who should choose something else?
- An adult up to 300 lb (136 kg) who is pushed on errands and car trips.
- Hand brakes or 12 in rear wheels: the Lightweight Expedition. Self-propelling: the Poly Fly TR18.
- Over 300 lb: the 22 inch bariatric aluminum transport chair.
Will it fit?
- Seat 17 or 19 in wide by 16 in deep (43 or 48 by 41 cm), 19 in (48 cm) from the floor.
- Width between the fixed arms is 15 in (38 cm) on the 17 in seat and 17 in (43 cm) on the 19 in seat.
- Open width 20 or 22 in (51 or 56 cm); folded 33 by 9 by 28 in (84 by 23 by 71 cm).
- Measure hip width, hip to knee, and knee to heel in shoes.
Using it day to day
- To open, tilt the chair, push down on the seat rails and lift the back until it locks.
- To fold the back, pull up both locks together; the footrests swing outward and lift off.
- Set both wheel locks and turn the casters forward before a transfer; do not step on the footplates.
- Keep the footrests at least 2.5 in (6.4 cm) off the ground and check the wheels monthly.
What does it work with, and what are its limits?
- A companion must operate it. Never use it as a seat in a motor vehicle.
- The rider and anything carried must total no more than 300 lb (136 kg).
- No elevating legrests are offered. A swivel cup holder fits and is sold separately.

Folded, it is 33 by 9 by 28 in (84 by 23 by 71 cm) with the back down.
Does the back recline?
No. It stays upright in use and folds down for storage.
Does the seat width change the doorway width?
Yes: 20 in (51 cm) with the 17 in seat, 22 in (56 cm) with the 19 in seat.
Is a cup holder included?
No. A swivel cup holder is sold separately.

Drive Medical warrants the Aluminum Transport Chair (ATC17 and ATC19) to be free of defects in materials and workmanship for the lifetime of the original consumer purchaser.
- Frame and durable parts: limited lifetime, original purchaser only.
- Not covered: non-durable parts that wear and need periodic replacement, such as rubber accessories, casters and grips.
- Excludes failure from misuse, negligence or normal wear and tear.
