Description
The Short-Wave is a seat and back cushion that Span-America built for wheelchairs and for chairs at home. Span-America lists this model as discontinued. Ask us about remaining stock or the current replacement.
What this cushion is
It is a two-part cushion: a seat pad with a matching back pad, held in a wipe-clean cover. The maker's item numbers for it end in -04, four cushions to a case, in the 16 in, 18 in and 20 in widths.
The maker's current catalogue, dated 1 July 2026, prints none of those numbers, and the maker's own site search returns nothing for the model. That is why nothing here is offered as a stocked item: tell us the width you need and we will say whether a boxed unit is still on the shelf.
What to know before you ask
- Ask for the 16 in, 18 in or 20 in build, the three sizes the maker's codes cover.
- The maker packs these codes four to a case, so a single cushion is a question for us rather than a cart item.
- The only maker sheet that printed the Short-Wave is years old, so its length, weight limit and warranty are not repeated here.
- If the line does not return, the replacement question is one for our seating team: the maker's current line is a different set of models.
What it is not
The Geo-Wave is a different cushion: a recliner and geri-chair pad with its own WAVE item numbers, and the maker still prints it. None of its figures are copied onto the Short-Wave.
Where to look instead
- Wheelchair cushions collects the seat cushions we sell.
- Our cushion range covers foam, gel and air seats for a wheelchair or a chair at home.
- Foam cushions covers the foam seats in particular.

Frequently asked questions
Is the Short-Wave still made?
The maker's catalogue dated 1 July 2026 prints no Short-Wave item number and its site search finds none, so we treat the line as discontinued.
Can I still buy one?
Only if a boxed unit is left on our shelf. Tell us the width you need and we will check the stock and quote it.
Which item numbers did it use?
SWAVE16-04, SWAVE-04 and SWAVE20-04 for the 16 in, 18 in and 20 in widths, and single-unit codes ending in -01.
Is the Geo-Wave its replacement?
No. The Geo-Wave is a recliner and geri-chair cushion with its own item numbers, and the maker still prints it.
