Description
The Invacare Comet Pro is a four-wheel scooter for longer pavement trips, with the batteries sold separately.
Who it suits, and who should choose something else
- A rider up to 350 lbs (160 kg), including anything carried, who can transfer alone and steer a tiller.
- The chassis alone is about 139 lbs (63 kg). If you need to lift a scooter into a car, see travel scooters instead.
- If you need a cushion or back support for posture, ask your therapist about a power wheelchair.
Check the space
- Length 57 in (1450 mm). Base width 26.2 to 27 in (665 to 685 mm).
- Invacare lists a 108 in (2750 mm) turning diameter, and a 77 in (1950 mm) reversing width. Measure the hallway against the reversing width.
- Ground clearance 4 in (100 mm). Curbs up to 4 in (100 mm), square on, backrest upright, never at an angle.
- Slopes up to 10 degrees. Do not turn around on a slope. Come down at no more than two thirds of top speed.
- From full speed, Invacare measures about 4.2 m (13.8 ft) to stop. Slow down early.
Batteries are not in the scooter price
- Two 12 V 75 Ah Group 24 AGM or gel batteries, about 57 lbs (26 kg) each. A "no batteries" choice does not mean the scooter runs without a pair.
- Range up to 55 km (34 mi) is the test figure for those 75 Ah batteries.
- The charger plugs into the left side of the tiller. See scooter batteries and battery replacement.
Speed
- We confirm stock and timing for the colour when you order.
- Top speed is up to 15 km/h (9.3 mph). A low-speed button cuts it for doorways. A UK graphic on some photos shows 12 km/h; the Canadian parts list is the 15 km/h drive.
Compare
- Pegasus Pro: the same 350 lb limit in a shorter body.
- Leo: the compact Invacare, with batteries included and a lower rider limit.
Frequently asked questions
Can I ride it as a seat in a van?
No. Invacare says it is not built to be a seat in a moving vehicle. Load it empty.
What if I already own a battery pair?
They must be 12 V Group 24, 75 Ah maximum, AGM or gel. Call us with the labels before you skip the battery option.
How often should it be checked?
Invacare recommends a check by an authorised provider once a year.
