Invacare

Invacare Pegasus Pro - 4 Wheel Scooter

The Invacare Pegasus Pro 4-Wheel Scooter is a full-size outdoor scooter for riders up to 350 lbs (159 kg) who want to cover real distance on sidewalks, park paths and gravel. It runs on two 75 Ah batteries and rides on 12-inch air-filled tires with double wishbone front suspension, and its captain's seat swivels, slides and reclines. The trade-off is size: at 52 inches long and 300 lbs (136 kg) with batteries, it does not fold, needs a van with a ramp or lift to travel, and needs about 108 inches to turn a full circle, so it suits outdoor riding more than tight hallways.

What is included?

The scooter (base, tiller and captain's seat with headrest), Invacare's 8 A off-board charger and the owner's manual. Batteries are not part of the base price: the scooter needs two 12 V batteries, and Invacare specifies a 75 Ah Group 24 pair. Add a pair under Choose Batteries, or pick No Batteries only if you already own a matching pair. Choose Blue, Red, Silver or White with the colour selector. We deliver and set it up across Toronto and the GTA and show you how to drive, charge and adjust it. For spare or replacement batteries, see our scooter batteries.

Description

The Invacare Pegasus Pro is a full-size four-wheel outdoor scooter with double wishbone front suspension and a captain's seat that swivels, slides and reclines, built for a pair of 75 Ah batteries.

Who it suits, and who should choose something else

  • A rider up to 350 lbs (159 kg), including cargo, who wants suspension and a large battery on pavement.
  • The chassis is about 137 lbs (62 kg) without seat or batteries. For a car, see travel scooters.
  • If you need a cushion or back support for posture, ask your therapist about a power wheelchair.
  • A shorter, lighter Invacare is the Leo, with batteries included.

Check the fit

  • Length 52 in (1320 mm); width 25.5 in (650 mm), 28.5 in (725 mm) with the armrests wide.
  • It needs 108 in (2750 mm) for a full turn and 71 in (1800 mm) of turning width.
  • Ground clearance 4 in (100 mm); obstacles up to 4 in (100 mm), square on.
  • Slopes up to 10 degrees; drive straight up and down, never across.
  • It does not fold. The seat is 46 lbs (21 kg) and each battery is about 57 lbs (26 kg).
  • The seat is 20 by 18.5 in, with four height positions and a 90 to 130 degree recline.

Batteries and charging

  • Two 12 V 75 Ah Group 24 AGM batteries, or a 73.5 Ah gel pair, are sold separately. The 54 km (33.5 mi) range is quoted on the 75 Ah pair.
  • The 8 A charger is included. The first charge takes 18 hours; later charges up to 12, or 16 after a deep discharge.
  • Charge between 10 and 30 degrees C, monthly when unused for two weeks. Capacity falls below 20 degrees C and is about half at -10 degrees C.
  • See scooter batteries. When they wear out, we replace them.

Controls and care

  • The backlit LCD shows speed, charge, distance, temperature and time. Turn signals cancel after 30 seconds; a low-speed button and curve control tame the start.
  • Electromagnetic brakes engage when you release the drive lever, with a hand brake and a two-step freewheel for pushing it empty.
  • Dual headlights, automatic brake lights, turn signals and hazard lights are standard.
  • Keep it off wet, icy, snowy and slippery ground; the anti-tippers can sink in soft grass or gravel.
  • It is not a vehicle seat and does not meet ISO 7176-19. Load it empty by ramp or lift and tie it down at the four points.

Compare

  • Comet Pro: a longer body with a longer quoted range.
  • Leo: compact, with batteries included.

Frequently asked questions

How do I get it into a van?

It does not fold. The seat lifts off at 46 lbs and each battery is about 57 lbs, but the chassis alone is about 137 lbs (62 kg), so plan a ramp or platform lift.

Can I run it with no batteries selected?

No. It needs two Group 24 batteries; skip them only if you already have a matching 75 Ah pair.

How do the turn figures work?

The four-wheel needs 108 in (2750 mm) for a full turn and 71 in (1800 mm) of turning width; a free home assessment checks your hallway and elevator.

Can I ride it in winter?

Avoid snow and ice; charge indoors between 10 and 30 degrees C. Capacity is about half at -10 degrees C.
