Description

The Drive Medical ATC19 is an aluminum transport chair with a 19 inch seat (ATC19-BK, ATC19-BL, or ATC19-RD), for an adult up to 300 lb (136 kg) who sits while a companion pushes.

What does it do and how does it work?

  • A companion pushes the chair. The rear wheels are 8 inch composite, so the rider does not self-propel.
  • The aluminum frame folds, and the back folds down on an aluminum hinge.
  • Swing-away footrests, a seat belt, and padded armrests come with the chair.
  • The seat and back are nylon. A separate cushion is not in the box.
  • Colours are black, blue, or red.

Who is it for, and who should choose something else?

Will it fit?

  • Measure hip width, hip to the back of the knee, and knee to the heel with shoes on. Our free home assessment can check those measures.
  • Seat 19 in (48 cm) wide and 16 in (41 cm) deep, 19 in (48 cm) from the floor. Width between the arms is 17 in (43 cm).
  • Open width is 22 in (56 cm). Length is 33 in (84 cm) with the footrests. Overall height is 39.5 in (100 cm).
  • Rear wheels and front casters are both 8 inch composite.
  • Folded size is 33 x 9 x 28 in (84 x 23 x 71 cm), back down, footrests still on.
  • The chair weighs 19 lb (8.6 kg). We confirm the seat width and the colour before you order.

Using it day to day

  • Open the chair by tilting it and pushing the seat rails.
  • Lift the back until both locks engage. Pull both locks to fold the back down.
  • Lock both rear wheels before a transfer. Swing the footrests aside, and keep their lowest point at least 2.5 in (6.4 cm) off the ground.

What does it work with, and what are its limits?

  • This is not a motor-vehicle seat. Transfer to a vehicle seat, and secure the empty chair.
  • Elevating legrests are not offered. An optional cup holder is STDS1040S.
  • The limited lifetime warranty covers the original buyer. Casters, grips, and rubber parts are excluded.
  • A cushion is separate. A 19 by 16 in cushion from our wheelchair cushions matches the seat.

Which version should I choose?

Choose black, blue, or red. Silver is not a current chair colour. The 17 inch seat is a different chair.

How does it compare?

The 17 inch aluminum transport chair is the same family with a narrower seat. The Expedition is a different Drive aluminum transport, with its own frame. More companion-push frames are in transport chairs.
