Description
The Drive Medical Poly-Fly TR20 is a 20 inch aluminum chair: a self-propel wheelchair with the 24 inch wheels on, and a transport chair when those wheels come off, for an adult up to 250 lb (113 kg).
What does it do and how does it work?
- Quick-release 24 inch wheels come off so the same frame can be pushed as a transport chair.
- The 8 inch casters stay on in both setups.
- Two wheel-lock sets are installed, one for the 24 inch wheels and one for transport.
- The back folds with a deluxe release. Upholstery is nylon.
- Swing-away footrests, with composite plates and heel loops, and anti-tippers come with the chair.
Who is it for, and who should choose something else?
- An adult up to 250 lb (113 kg) who wants to self-propel some of the time and be pushed the rest.
- Someone who only needs a light companion-push chair: transport chairs, including the 17 inch aluminum transport chair.
- Over 250 lb (113 kg): a standard wheelchair or a bariatric wheelchair with a higher weight capacity.
- A chair without removable wheels: folding wheelchairs.
Will it fit?
- Measure hip width, hip to the back of the knee, and knee to the heel with shoes on. Our free home assessment can check those measures.
- Seat 20 in (51 cm) wide and 16 in (41 cm) deep, 19.5 in (50 cm) from the floor. Back height is 16 in (41 cm).
- With the 24 inch wheels on, open width is 25.5 in (65 cm), length is 42 in (107 cm) with the footrests, and height is 37 in (94 cm).
- Folded size with those wheels in the measure is 42 x 12 x 37 in (107 x 30 x 94 cm).
- The chair weighs 36 lb (16.3 kg) with the 24 inch wheels on. We confirm the 20 inch seat before you order.
Using it day to day
- To self-propel, press the quick-release button and slide each 24 inch wheel onto the top axle.
- Take those wheels off when a companion will push. The 8 inch casters stay on.
- Use the wheel-lock set that matches the wheels on the chair. Lock them before a transfer.
- Keep the footrests at least 2.5 in (6.4 cm) off the ground. Anti-tippers are on the frame.
What does it work with, and what are its limits?
- This is not a motor-vehicle seat. Transfer to a vehicle seat, and secure the empty chair.
- Elevating legrest STDELR-TF is optional and is not in the box.
- The limited lifetime warranty covers the original buyer. Casters, grips, and rubber parts are excluded. See the Warranty tab.
- A cushion is separate. A 20 by 16 in cushion from our wheelchair cushions matches the seat.
How does it compare?
The 18 inch Poly-Fly is the same hybrid with a narrower seat. This chair's seat is 20 inches wide, not 18. A push-only frame is lighter: see transport chairs.

Warranty details
Drive Medical warrants the Poly-Fly wheelchair and transport chair (TR20) to be free of defects in materials and workmanship for the lifetime of the original consumer purchaser.
- Frame and durable parts: limited lifetime, original purchaser only.
- Not covered: non-durable parts that wear and need periodic replacement, such as rubber accessories, casters and grips.
- Excludes failure from misuse, negligence or normal wear and tear.
