Description
The Drive Steel Transport Chair TR39E-SV is the 19 in (48 cm) version of Drive's steel folding transport chair, in a silver vein finish, for an adult a companion pushes.
What does it do and how does it work?
- Steel frame at 26 lb (11.8 kg), with 8 in (20 cm) wheels at all four corners and solid rubber tires.
- No hand rims, so the rider cannot self-propel; a companion pushes from the handles.
- Dual wheel locks on the rear wheels; the fixed padded arms are part of the frame.
- The back folds down and the frame folds side to side with handles on the seat upholstery.
- Swing-away footrests lift off and adjust for length; a seat belt is fitted.
Who is it for, and who should choose something else?
- An adult up to 250 lb (113 kg) who is pushed at home, in appointments and on car trips.
- A 17 in seat: the TR37E-SV. Lighter aluminum with 12 in rear wheels and hand brakes: the Expedition.
- Over 250 lb: bariatric wheelchairs.
Will it fit?
- Seat 19 in wide by 16 in deep (48 by 41 cm), with 17.5 in (44 cm) between the arms; 19 in (48 cm) from the floor; back 18 in (46 cm).
- Open with footrests 33 by 23.5 by 39 in (84 by 60 by 99 cm); folded without footrests 23 by 10 by 30.5 in (58 by 25 by 77 cm).
- Measure hip width, hips to knee, and knee to heel in shoes. The seat height and back are fixed.
Using it day to day
- To open, tilt the chair and push down on the seat rails; lift the back and its lock engages.
- To fold, pull up both back locks, then use the handles on the seat upholstery to bring the sides together.
- Engage both wheel locks and turn the casters forward before a transfer; do not lean forward or step on the footplates.
- Keep the footrests at least 2.5 in (6.4 cm) off the ground. Wipe the frame weekly, wax the metal monthly and check the wheels for side play.
- Replace torn upholstery promptly; worn fabric may not support body weight.
What does it work with, and what are its limits?
- A companion must operate it; never use it as a seat in a motor vehicle.
- The rider and anything carried must total no more than 250 lb (113 kg).
- No elevating legrests and no cushion; the seat belt is fitted and should not be removed.

Folded without footrests, it is 23 by 10 by 30.5 in (58 by 25 by 77 cm).
Does the back recline?
No. The back is fixed upright and folds down only for storage.
Can I replace the seat sling later?
The 19 in seat upholstery is no longer supplied; ask us before ordering if a future replacement matters.

- Frame and durable parts: limited lifetime, original purchaser only.
- Not covered: non-durable parts that wear and need periodic replacement, such as rubber accessories, casters and grips.
- Excludes failure from misuse, negligence or normal wear and tear.
