The Handicare Carina 350 is a foldable electric floor lift with manual (EM) or powered (EE) leg widening, made for home transfers where a fixed ceiling track is not an option.
Who is it for, and who needs another lift?
- Home transfers: bed to chair, chair to wheelchair, and wheelchair to commode, with the lift moving between rooms.
- Assessment: the person's needs and the route are checked before the lift is chosen.
How does a transfer work with it?
- Sling bar: a two-point aluminium SlingBar with safety latches, 17.7 in (450 mm) as standard.
- Controls: a hand control on a cord, a grip handle bar and an emergency stop on the control box; never leave the person unattended during a transfer.
- Emergency lowering: manual and electrical.
- Floor pickup: the sling bar lowers to 22.8 in (580 mm).
Will it fit your home?
- Closed base: 26.8 in (680 mm) outside, the width that has to clear a doorway.
- Open base: 42.5 in (1,080 mm) outside, with 37 in (940 mm) inside for a chair or commode.
- Base height: 4.9 in (125 mm), so the bed or chair base must clear it.
- Folded: 47.9 x 25.3 x 16.8 in for a cupboard or car; it arrives folded and assembles without tools.
Which slings fit it?
- Maker line: Handicare SystemRoMedic slings in sizes XXS to XXL fit the two-point SlingBar.
- Bars: the standard bar is 17.7 in (450 mm), with XS, S and L alternatives.
- Not included: no sling comes with the lift, so it is chosen to suit the person; see patient lift slings.
Battery, charging and care
- Battery: two 12 V 2.9 Ah sealed gel batteries.
- Charging: the built-in charger needs at least 4 hours before first use and stops when full; a wall charger can charge the pack off the lift.
- Cleaning: warm water or soap, no phenol or chlorine; disinfect with 70% ethanol or 45% isopropanol, and keep the castors clear.
Which versions and options are there?
- EM or EE: manual leg widening by foot pedal (EM) or electrical widening from the hand control (EE); the EE is a separate model.
- Low legs: both come in standard height or a low-leg version for lower beds.
Funding help for a patient lift in Ontario

How do delivery, setup and service work?
We deliver and set up across Toronto and the GTA, charge the battery, fit the sling and show the controls and emergency lowering. Renting first suits a short need; see service and free home assessment.
How does it compare?
The Joerns Hoyer Advance and Span F400 are other folding floor lifts; see the electric floor lifts.
Frequently asked questions
What if the controls fail during a transfer?
The Carina 350 has electrical and manual emergency lowering; learn both during setup before using the lift.
How long does the battery last, and how do I charge it?
Two 12 V 2.9 Ah gel batteries. Charge through the built-in charger for at least four hours before first use; charging stops when full, and an external charger can charge the pack off the lift.
Does it fold for transport?
Yes. It arrives folded, assembles without tools and folds to 47.9 x 25.3 x 16.8 in.
