great quality bed, really silent, good features
Description
The Joerns EasyCare, model ECS, is a long-term care bed for skilled nursing, rehabilitation and assisted living. See long term care beds.
What does it do and how does it work?
- A backlit pendant runs hi-low, back and knee, plus Comfort Chair, AutoContour and AutoTransfer.
- The back pauses at 30 and 45 degrees. Idle power is 0.5 W. The actuators run 2 minutes, then rest 18 minutes.
- The staff control, sold separately, adds Gravity Assist, lockout, Trendelenburg and a three-level SafeLight.
Who is it for, and who should choose something else?
- One person in skilled nursing, transitional care, rehabilitation or assisted living. Safe working load 600 lb (272 kg). Maximum patient weight 550 lb (249 kg).
- Choose another frame if the person must travel in the bed. It is not a transport device.
- A homecare bed is the simpler choice for a private house when a care team has not asked for this frame.
Will it fit?
- Deck: 35 in (89 cm) by 80 in (203 cm). Height is 7 to 30 in (18 to 76 cm).
- Width stops at 35, 39 or 42 in. Do not add a width kit to a bed that already has Care-Fit width.
- A 4 or 8 in extension makes the bed 84.25, 88.25 or 92.25 in long (214, 224 or 234 cm).
- Mattress: at least 35 in wide and 6 in deep, matching the deck length and the 39 or 42 in setting. Below 1.5 in (3.8 cm) of compression, the side stops can injure the skin.
Using it day to day
- The pendant plugs in on the left or the right. Lock the floor before a transfer.
- Roll-in-low lifts the casters off the floor. Roll-at-any-height uses two Care-Lock pedals. Power is 100 to 240 V, splash rating IPX4.
- The on-board battery is sold separately. Part N111 runs the bed when it is unplugged.
What does it work with, and what are its limits?
- Assists for this frame are the F028, F026, F025, F18, F14 and a trapeze, sold separately. See bed accessories.
- Match the mattress, panels and assists. A mismatch can entrap. See medical mattresses.
- It conforms to IEC 60601-2-52 and CSA C22.2 No. 60601-1. Use only Joerns parts.
Which version should I choose?
- Roll-in-low stays on rubber feet. Roll-at-any-height rolls at any deck height.
- Pick 35, 39 or 42 in for the sleeper and the doorway.
- We confirm the frame is the current 600 lb EasyCare, not the earlier 500 lb generation, before you order.

- Welds: lifetime, defined as 20 years.
- Wear parts such as DC batteries: 90 days.
- Excludes damage from unsuitable environments, abuse or poor maintenance; any alteration, modification or repair not done or approved in writing by Joerns voids the warranty.
