The BEKA Carlo Alu is a battery-powered mobile floor lift for a person who cannot bear weight. It comes in a 185 kg (408 lb) build and a 230 kg (507 lb) build. The hanger bar lowers to 7.9 in (200 mm) above the floor, and the powered legs spread to fit under a low bed.
Who it is for
- A trained caregiver transfers the person between a bed, chair, bath or toilet.
- It is for smooth, level indoor floors, not stairs or slopes.
- It is a fixed frame and does not fold.
Classic or Comfort EP build
- The Classic build has a 4-point or 6-point carry bar and takes loop slings only.
- The Comfort EP build has a 4-point spreader bar with the Electrical Positioning System and takes clip slings only.
- The model number covers both builds; confirm the build and the matching sling before you order.
- BEKA slings come in S to XXL; use a maker-approved sling rated for at least the person's weight.
Will it fit the room?
- Closed outside width is 27.6 in (700 mm); open it is 46.5 in (1,180 mm) on the 185 and 48.4 in (1,230 mm) on the 230.
- The leg opening is 40.9 in (1,040 mm) inside on the 185 and 42.9 in (1,090 mm) on the 230.
- The base is 4.9 in (125 mm) high, so it passes under low beds and stretchers.
- The turning radius is 53.1 in (1,350 mm) on the 185 and 58.1 in (1,475 mm) on the 230.
- The four double castors are 3.9 in (100 mm); the two rear castors have brakes.
Lifting and power
- With the hanger bar fitted, the lift travels from 7.9 to 62.2 in (200 to 1,580 mm) above the floor; without the bar it reaches 82.1 in (2,085 mm).
- The hand control raises and lowers the bar, spreads the legs and shows battery, overload and service lights.
- The removable battery is 24 V, 2.9 Ah lead acid. A wall charger runs on 100 to 240 V AC and takes about four hours.
- The duty cycle is 10 percent: two minutes of use, then an 18-minute pause. The lift is rated IPX4.
- Emergency lowering is manual, with a red safety lock that lowers the bar slowly, or electrical from the control unit; there is also an emergency stop.
Care
- Wipe with soapy water or a plastic cleaner; no abrasives, aerosols or solvents.
- Wash slings at no more than 60 C with household detergent; do not wring them or use a rotary iron.
- Check the loops or clips before every use, and discard a worn sling.

Frequently asked questions
What happens if the power fails during a transfer?
The person does not drop. Slide the red safety lock and the bar lowers slowly under control; there is electrical emergency lowering from the control unit too.
Can I rent a patient lift instead of buying one?
Yes. If the need is short, after surgery or for a respite stay, a rental lets you try the lift in your own room first.
Which sling do I need?
It depends on the build: loop slings for the Classic carry bar, clip slings for the Comfort EP spreader bar. Tell us the build and we will match the sling.
