The battery-powered Invacare Reliant 450 transfers a person who cannot bear weight between a bed, wheelchair, commode or bathing unit.
Who is the Reliant 450 patient lift for?
A trained carer operates it for someone who cannot help with the transfer. If the person can stand with support, assess a sit-to-stand lift instead.
Will the Reliant 450 fit your home?
- Closed, the base is 26.5 in (673 mm) wide, which must pass the doorway; open, it is 41 in (1,041 mm) wide for stability.
- The base stands 4.5 in (114 mm) high, so the bed frame, chair legs or commode base must clear that height.
- The boom runs 24 to 74 in (610 to 1,880 mm).
Which slings fit the Reliant 450?
- Invacare slings are made specifically for Invacare patient lifts; mixing makers' slings and lifts voids the warranty.
- The sling chart gives the width and length of each size; choose from the person's measurements and positioning rather than weight alone.
- The sling must match the lift's 450 lb (204 kg) rating.
Battery and charging
Two 24V batteries arrive, one to run the lift and one to keep on the wall charger, which takes about 6 hours. Expect 100 to 200 cycles per charge, depending on load and stroke. A mechanical release lowers the boom without power.
The warranty is three years on the lift and one year on the slings, hydraulic pump and electrical components.

We deliver and set up across Toronto and the GTA, charge the battery, fit the sling and explain the controls and emergency lowering. Our technicians service what we sell. For a short need, rent a patient lift first.
Frequently asked questions
Can one person operate the Invacare Reliant 450?
Two assistants are recommended for all lifting preparation and transfers; the equipment will work with one assistant, based on a healthcare professional's evaluation of the individual case.
What happens if the power fails while someone is in the sling?
Every actuator has a mechanical emergency release. A pen is pushed into the hole labelled emergency on the control box and the boom is pressed down, releasing the actuator under load so the person is lowered without power.
How many lifts will one charge give me?
The lift is rated at 100 to 200 cycles per charge; a lighter person lifted a short distance sits at the top of that range, a heavier person lifted high at the bottom.

Warranty details
Invacare warrants the Reliant 450 to the original purchaser against defects in materials and workmanship, from the date of purchase.
- Lift: 3 years.
- Slings, hydraulic pump and electric components: 1 year.
- Invacare repairs or replaces at its option; labour and shipping are not included.
- Excludes negligence, accident, improper operation, maintenance or storage, unauthorized parts or modifications, normal wear, and units with the serial number removed.
- Warranty service starts with the dealer who sold the lift.
