Description
The Invacare Leo is the compact four-wheel Invacare scooter, with two 36 Ah batteries included and a 300 lb (136 kg) limit.
Who it suits, and who should choose something else
- A rider up to 300 lbs (136 kg), including anything carried. Older Canadian sheets say 350 lbs (159 kg); we use the current Canadian page and confirm before you order.
- It comes apart, but the two frame sections together weigh about 101 lbs (46 kg). Lifting that alone is a poor plan. Compare piece weights on our travel scooters.
- If you need a cushion or back support for posture, ask your therapist about a power wheelchair.
Check the fit
- Length 47.5 in (121 cm). Base width 23.6 in (60 cm).
- Turning radius 52 in (132 cm).
- Slopes up to 8 degrees on the North American figure. European sheets say 10 degrees. Drive straight up and down, never turn on a slope, and come down at no more than two thirds of top speed.
- Obstacles up to 2.4 in (60 mm), square on, never at an angle.
- Five pieces, no tools: seat 31 lbs (14 kg), two batteries 26 lbs (12 kg) each, and the front and rear sections.
Batteries and charging
- Two 12 V 36 Ah sealed AGM batteries are included. Range up to 38 km (23.6 mi) is a test maximum on that pair.
- The off-board charger plugs into the left side of the tiller.
- Avoid riding on the reserve light. We replace worn batteries.
- Load it empty, by a ramp or platform lift within that ramp's rating. See portable ramps.
Speed
- Top speed up to 8 km/h (5 mph). There is no suspension unless the optional seat post is fitted.
Compare
- Comet Pro: 350 lbs, longer range, batteries sold separately, and a much wider turn.
- Pegasus Pro: suspension and a larger battery, for mixed pavement rather than tight rooms.
Frequently asked questions
Which slope limit applies?
We quote 8 degrees from the North American literature. A European sheet says 10 degrees. We confirm before you order.
Does the freewheel let me sit and coast?
No. The two-step freewheel lever is for pushing it empty. The electromagnetic brakes are off until you put it back in drive.
Are the batteries in the price?
Yes. Two 12 V 36 Ah AGM batteries and the 5 amp charger come with the Leo.
