Helio A6 Ultralight Folding Wheelchair by Motion Composites

Quote only

Priced by quote: your written quote confirms current pricing, options and availability.
  • Seat width
  • Seat depth
  • Colour - Black

The Motion Composites Helio A6 is an aluminum folding wheelchair, made in Canada and built to the measurements on Motion Composites' order form. It suits a person who pushes themselves every day and wants the chair set up around their body: seat width and depth, front and rear seat heights, rear axle position, back angle and footrest angle are all chosen. The front seat can sit as low as 12 inches (30.5 cm), so people who propel with their feet can reach the floor.

  • Transport weight: 15.1 lbs (6.85 kg) at 16" x 16", without rear wheels, armrests, cushion, anti-tippers and footrests

Photos show example frame colours and options. Your chosen colour and supplied parts are confirmed on the written quote.

What is included?

Motion Composites builds each Helio A6 from its order form. The base picks are a black frame in your seat size with slip-on nylon back upholstery, push handles, Newton One spoke rear wheels with airless urethane tires and aluminum handrims, composite casters, Newton push-to-lock wheel locks, and swing-in/swing-out footrests with composite footplates. Armrests or side guards, anti-tippers, a positioning belt, the axle type, a heavy-duty kit and any colour other than black are chosen on the same form and listed on your quote. A seat cushion is not part of the base chair: choose one on the order form or from our wheelchair cushions, and see our wheelchair backrests if the nylon back gives too little support.

Description

The Motion Composites Helio A6 is a folding wheelchair with a 6061 aluminum frame, built to order for an adult who self-propels.

Who it suits, and who should choose something else

  • An adult up to 265 lbs (120 kg), or 350 lbs (159 kg) with the HD kit. The cross brace is 7005, not the Helio A7's 7005 frame.
  • Foot propelling starts at 12" (30.5 cm) with a 3" caster. Fold-down and height-adjustable handles stop at 265 lbs (120 kg); the HD kit uses standard handles.
  • Needs tilt: tilt-in-space wheelchairs. Over the HD kit: bariatric wheelchairs. Fewer adjustments: the Move.

Check the fit

  • Width is across the seating surface, from the outside of the side frame tubes. Depth is from the front of the back cane to the front of the seat sling.
  • Widths 21" and 22" need the HD kit. Back canes are 9" to 24" on the order form, but the product page starts at 12", so we confirm before you order.
  • Overall width 20.75" to 33.5" (52.7-85.1 cm). Folded size is not stated.
  • At 16" x 16", 25.4 lbs (11.52 kg) with rear wheels, wheel locks, footrests, back upholstery and seat cushion. Without rear wheels, armrests or side guards, cushion, anti-tippers and footrests, the transport weight is 15.1 lbs (6.85 kg).
  • A professional should set the axle. A free home assessment can check the doorway.

Safe use

  • Do not expose it below -20 C or above 40 C, and have a certified technician inspect it yearly. Transfer to a vehicle seat whenever you can. Occupied tie-downs are not offered with the HD kit.
  • The manual calls quick-release axles standard, and the order form prices more than one axle, so we confirm before you order. A cushion is chosen on the form.

Compare

The Helio A7 is the 7005 chair. The Move has fewer seat depths: see all Type 3 wheelchairs.
