A wheelchair rental provides a chair for an agreed period without purchasing it. Mobility Specialties helps Toronto, Brampton, Mississauga and GTA customers compare folding, transport and tilt rental options, then confirm the chair, fit requirements, dates and written terms before booking.

What should you check before renting a wheelchair?

Share the person, route and transport requirements with the team. The word folding or lightweight does not establish fit or lifting suitability.

Seating and assistance

Discuss usable seat width and depth, leg support, the supplied cushion and manufacturer capacity for the exact chair. Say whether the person or a companion will propel it. Ask the assessment team about positioning requirements.

Doors and everyday routes

Measure the narrowest doorways and turns along the intended route. Describe steps, thresholds, building lifts and any assistance required. Compare those details with the supplied chair dimensions and instructions.

Folding and vehicle loading

Measure the boot or trunk opening and available space. Check the folded dimensions, removable parts and weight of each item to be lifted. A folding chair does not necessarily fit a particular vehicle or suit the person lifting it.

Planning and manufacturer guidance: Drive Medical example of a chair with two propulsion modes. Follow the instructions for the exact model.

How much does a wheelchair rental cost?

Request a current quote for the chair configuration and rental period. Check the rate and billing unit, minimum term, any deposit, accessories and separate collection or delivery charges. Confirm extension, return and cancellation conditions in the agreement before booking.

How does a rental enquiry work?

Start with the person and the journey, review the proposed chair and quote, then confirm the arrangements with the team.

  1. 1. Describe the rental

Give the requested start date, estimated duration and postal code. Describe who will push, seating requirements and whether the chair will travel by car or another provider.

  2. 2. Review the chair and quote

Confirm the exact chair, dimensions, supplied components, rental period and total charges. Discuss collection or delivery access and any instruction required.

  3. 3. Agree the booking

Confirm availability and the arrangements directly with the team. Keep the agreement and chair instructions, and ask how to report a fault, extend the term or arrange a return.

How much does it cost to rent a wheelchair?

Ask for a current written quote for the supplied chair and period. Compare the rate and billing unit, minimum term, any deposit, accessories and separate delivery or collection charges. A weekly amount and a monthly amount represent different rental periods.

Request a wheelchair rental quote
What is the difference between a transport chair and a manual wheelchair?

A transport chair is intended for another person to push. A self-propelled manual wheelchair has large rear wheels with push rims. Some configurations combine both modes, so confirm the supplied chair and wheels rather than relying on the category name.

Compare wheelchair options
Can I enquire about a tilt wheelchair rental?

Yes. Review the separate tilt rental listing and discuss seating, positioning and caregiver assistance with your assessment team. Confirm the exact frame, seating components and available dates with our team.

Explore tilt wheelchair rentals
Can I rent a wheelchair for a short visit or appointments?

Share the requested dates, expected use and assistance available. Ask the team to confirm whether the required rental period is available and which minimum term applies. Do not assume a daily or weekly option is available for every chair.

Discuss your dates
Will a folding rental wheelchair fit in my car?

Compare the supplied chair folded dimensions and removable parts with your vehicle opening and space. Check the weight of each item to be lifted and who will load it. Folding alone does not establish vehicle fit or lifting suitability.

Prepare vehicle measurements
Can I collect the chair or arrange delivery in the GTA?

Ask which collection or delivery arrangements apply to the selected chair and address. Confirm the showroom, appointment, access details and any delivery or collection charge before travelling or booking.

Plan collection or delivery
Are a cushion, footrests or a particular seat width included?

Ask for the exact seat dimensions, foot and leg supports, cushion and any other components to be identified in the written quote. The illustration does not guarantee a particular rental configuration.

Check the supplied chair
How do I extend or return a rental wheelchair?

Contact the team before the agreed end date to review the extension or return conditions. Confirm any notice, charge, return location or collection appointment and keep the confirmation with the agreement.
