Description
This Baja Raptor 2 is the three-wheel BA300, a fast outdoor scooter rather than a compact indoor one. Pride lists the Baja family as non-medical devices.
Who it suits, and who should choose something else
- A rider up to 400 lbs (181 kg) who wants suspension and 16 in pneumatic tires, and who can handle a battery that weighs about 53 lbs (24 kg).
- Ground clearance is 3.5 in (91 mm) at mid-frame and only 1.37 in (35 mm) at the anti-tip wheels. The slope rating is 6 degrees. Obstacles over 1.97 in (50 mm) are outside the rating.
- Length is 59.34 in (1510 mm) and the turning radius is 59.64 in (1514 mm). Tight halls are a poor match. See travel scooters if you need a car scooter.
- If you need a cushion or back support for posture, ask your therapist about a power wheelchair.
Speed and range
- Top speed up to 22.5 km/h (14 mph), much faster than a typical pavement scooter.
- Range is 50 km (31 mi) at 220 lbs in the low-speed test, and 30.6 km (19 mi) at 400 lbs in the high-speed test. Hills, tire pressure and a cold battery shorten it.
- The seat is 20 by 18 in memory foam, about 45.6 lbs (20.7 kg), with limited recline, a headrest and sliders. It sits 28 in (711 mm) above the ground and 19 in (483 mm) above the deck.
- Width 27.17 in (690 mm). Front and rear suspension, on 3 by 16 in tubeless pneumatic tires.
- Colours include matte Black, True Blue and Candy Apple Red, plus shroud inserts in True Blue, Green Machine, Evolution Orange and Candy Apple Red. We confirm the colour on the unit.
Batteries and controls
- Two 12 V 75 Ah AGM or gel batteries, about 53 lbs each, come with it. The 8 amp charger plugs into the port at the front of the rear shroud.
- Charge 8 to 14 hours after a day's use, plus 4 hours after the charger shows complete, and give it 48 continuous hours once a month.
- The console has a key switch, thumb throttle, Hi-Low switch, LCD, light and turn-signal controls and the handbrake; tiller height adjusts with a bolt. The handbrake latches for parking and adds power to the regenerative and electromechanical brakes and disc park brake.
- The front LED headlight has high and low beam, with directional signals and rear brake lights.
- It does not come apart: the seat flips forward for the under-seat compartment, and the batteries below need tools. It is not a vehicle seat.
- We replace worn batteries.
