Geo-Matrix G1 Single Zone Mattress by Blake Medical

The Blake Geo-Matrix G1 Single Zone (G1MFS3680) is a 6" (15 cm) gel foam mattress, 36" x 80" (91 x 203 cm), with a 1" gel insert at the coccyx only and no pump.

What does it do and how does it work?

• A 1" (2.5 cm) Geo-Matrix gel insert sits at the coccyx. Blake says it lowers peak pressure there. There is no heel gel.
• Under the gel: a dual-density polyurethane base, a 5 lb memory foam core, and a firm foam border for transfers.
• The cover stretches four ways, has an antimicrobial finish, keeps fluid out, and wipes clean. Nylon quilting is in that cover. Nothing plugs in.

Who is it for, and who should choose something else?

• Blake states it maintains skin health and aids healing of stage I to II pressure injuries (redness or a superficial wound).
• A nurse, doctor or therapist decides whether gel at the coccyx alone is enough.
• Choose the G1 Dual Zone when the heels need gel too. Choose the G2 for gel along the whole mattress. Choose alternating pressure for a pump.

Will it fit?

• This listing is 36" x 80" x 6" (91 x 203 x 15 cm). It is not an 84" mattress.
• Blake also lists 39", 42", 54" and 60" widths, each 80" long. Confirm the deck width before you order. Many homecare hospital beds are 36" x 80".
• Stock capacity is 300 lbs (136 kg). A 500 lb (227 kg) build is custom. If the bed's safe load is lower, use that number.
• Leave gaps under 120 mm (4 3/4 in) between the rail and this mattress, and under 60 mm (2 3/8 in) at the rail ends. That is the Health Canada guidance. Check the rails.

Using it day to day

• Lay it on the bare deck and wipe the cover. The coccyx insert is built in. There is no dial and no cord.

What does it work with, and what are its limits?

• It replaces the mattress. It is not a loose gel pad, and a power cut cannot deflate it.

Which version should I choose?

• G1MFS3680 is the 36" x 80" mattress sold here. The 39", 42", 54" and 60" widths are other Blake sizes, still 80" long. Order 500 lbs (227 kg) only when the care plan needs that build.

How does it compare?

• The G1 Dual Zone adds heel gel and uses 1.5" at the coccyx, at the same 300 lb (136 kg) stock rating.
• The G2 runs gel from the head to the heels. Other gel surfaces are on the gel mattress hub.
