Description
The Drive Vacu-Aide 7325D-D is a suction unit with an internal filter and no factory battery: a disposable container collects fluid drawn from the airway or a respiratory support system. A physician orders it, and it is licensed by Health Canada (medical device licence 2958). The D series is for non-transport use.
What does it do and how does it work?
- Vacuum: 50 to 550 mm Hg, plus or minus 5%, with 27 LPM free flow typical.
- Sound: under 59 dBA, tested to ISO 10079-1:2015.
- Power: 100-240 V, 50/60 Hz, 0.75 A max, or 12 V DC, 33 W max.
- Duty cycle: 30 minutes on, then 30 minutes off.
- Container: 800 mL disposable, or an optional 1200 mL reusable.
- Size: 3.4 lb (1.54 kg) without the power supply; 6.9 x 7.0 x 7.1 in (17.5 x 17.8 x 18.0 cm).
Who is it for, and who should choose something else?
- Ordered use: removing fluids from the airway or a respiratory support system, for neonates, infants, children and adults when a physician indicates that use.
- Not for: thoracic drainage or nasogastric suction, and not as a general vacuum, life support or monitor.
- Transport: the D series is non-transport. The 7325P-D adds a lithium-ion battery and the transport classification.
- An older model: the QSU is a different item, 7314D-D.
Will it fit?
- Set it on a firm, level surface with room for the tubing and the container.
- Confirm that the 12 V cord and the patient tubing are in the carton; the series contents list varies by model.
- Keep it out of water and out of the bath.
Using it day to day
- Block the tubing and set the ordered vacuum first, then follow the care authority's procedure.
- Collect nonflammable fluid only.
- Do not use it while bathing, drowsy or asleep, and supervise children or anyone who cannot protect themselves; tubing can strangle.
- Keep it out of active high-frequency surgical areas and MR shielded rooms; the unit is MR unsafe.
- Between patients, replace the container, filter and tubing. The internal filter stays in the container and must not be washed; disinfection follows the facility's procedure, not a simple wipe.
What does it work with, and what are its limits?
- Environment: IP33 covers the unit, not the ordinary power supply. Altitude, pressure and temperature change the suction result.
- Battery: this model has none, so the lower-flow battery caveat and the 45-minute battery runtime belong to the P series.
- Warranty: two years limited, collection container excluded; see the warranty terms.
How does it compare?
- 7325P-D: the same unit with a lithium-ion battery and transport use.
- 7314D-D (QSU): the earlier quiet suction unit, also non-transport.
- More supplies are under medical supplies.
