Description
The Golden Ally Pro GP304 is a folding power chair with a two-position reclining back, suspension and a 330 lbs (150 kg) rating.
What does it do and how does it work?
- One-motion fold: the frame folds in one movement, and the chair can drive itself through the Smart Control app; 75 lbs (34 kg) assembled.
- Suspension and wheels: 10 in (25.4 cm) pneumatic rear drive wheels with front suspension, 10 in omni-directional casters with a self-cleaning V-groove and 2 in (5.1 cm) anti-tips.
- Speed and range: 5 mph (about 8 km/h), up to 13 miles (about 21 km) at 200 lbs (91 kg) on one 12 Ah pack.
- Seat: 17 x 16 in (43.2 x 40.6 cm), 20.5 in (52.1 cm) ground to seat and 19 in (48.3 cm) at the back, with a memory foam cushion, a two-position reclining back and padded arms.
- Footrest: length adjustable.
- Controls and features: a 40 amp remote controller pre-wired for either side, electronic speed control and brakes; USB ports, front and rear lighting, voice alerts, a storage compartment and a water-resistant backpack.
Who is it for, and who should choose something else?
- It suits a rider up to 330 lbs (150 kg) who wants recline and front suspension in a folding chair.
- It suits a carer: 75 lbs (34 kg) assembled and a 69.6 lbs (31.6 kg) heaviest piece; two people are safer, and it drives itself folded.
- Choose the lighter Ally GP303 if 75 lbs is too much, or a non-folding chair for a tighter turn.
Will it fit?
- Rider: 330 lbs (150 kg); seat 17 x 16 in (43.2 x 40.6 cm), 20.5 in (52.1 cm) ground to seat and 19 in (48.3 cm) back.
- Base: 25 in (63.5 cm) wide, up to 20 in between the arms, 39 in (99 cm) long and 37 in (94 cm) high.
- Weight: 75 lbs (34 kg) assembled; heaviest piece 69.6 lbs (31.6 kg); battery 5 lbs (2.3 kg).
- Ground: 2.5 in (63.5 mm) clearance and a 37 in (94 cm) turning radius, wide for a hallway.
Using it day to day
- Fold: one motion; the app can drive the folded chair for loading.
- Recline: the back has two positions.
- Charge: lift out the 5 lbs (2.3 kg) pack and charge it off-board.
- App: pairs for remote driving and system monitoring; the standard controller still drives the chair.
- Air travel: the pack is labelled airline friendly; check with the carrier before booking.
What does it work with, and what are its limits?
- Stay within 330 lbs (150 kg), one rider.
- The 37 in (94 cm) turn needs measuring in tight hallways.
- The back has two positions and does not tilt.
- Warranty: frame 5 years; drive train and electronics 13 months; batteries 12 months.
Which version should I choose?
- Colours: teal or grey.
- Options: extendable headrest, cup/phone holder, heated seat control and wireless remote.
How does it compare?
- The Ally GP303 is lighter and simpler, without the recline or front suspension.
- The Aerolux 2C is a carbon chair with a different seat and fold.
