Description

The Comfort Care sling with head support is a full body sling in black spacer. A sewn panel supports the head, and these item numbers have no hip straps and no opening in the seat.

Which lift does it fit?

  • Handicare loop slings fit Handicare carry bars. Use the same colour loop on both sides.
  • Short shoulder loops and long leg loops sit the person more upright.
  • It is used for supine to seated transfers, and it can stay under the person while seated because the fabric is spacer.
  • The sling and the lift must both be rated for the person, and the maker must approve the pairing. Inspect for fraying (patient lifts and risk of fall).
  • These loop slings attach to a Handicare carry bar. A bar from another maker is a different pairing.

Who is it for?

  • It supports the trunk, thighs and head, more upright than other slings.
  • The sling goes on and comes off while the person is lying down.
  • Leave it under the person while seated only after a clinician documents the reasoning.

How is it applied?

  • Roll the person onto their side with hips and knees flexed.
  • Drape the sling over them, line the hip darting up with the flexed hip, and tuck the near edge under the mattress.
  • Roll them onto their back, then pull the tucked flap flat.
  • Find the storage pouch between the thighs and thread the long leg straps through the midline straps.
  • Attach the loops to the carry bar: short loops at the shoulders, long loops at the legs.
  • Set the lower edge about one finger above the fold behind the knee, never below it.

Which size?

  • Child 8E4730, junior 8E4630, small 8E4530, medium 8E4430, large 8E4330, extra large 8E4230.
  • The drawing labels the first two XXS and XS; they are the same child and junior codes.
  • Hip straps are 8E4731 to 8E4231 and a commode opening is 8E4732 to 8E4232. Neither is this sling.
  • Every head-support row is 625 lbs (283 kg). Stay inside the lowest rating in the assembled lift.

Care

  • Wash in a laundry bag at up to 176 F (80 C).
  • Life expectancy is up to 4 years with use and washing; that is a service life, not a warranty.
  • Retire a torn, frayed or unreadable sling.

How does it compare?

Frequently asked questions

Do these codes include hip straps?

No. Hip-strap codes end in 1, such as 8E4431. These are the head-support slings, with codes ending in 0.

Is there a hole in the seat?

No. A commode opening is a different code ending in 2.

Why is the bar in the photo marked 600 lb?

That label belongs to the example bar, 600 lb (272 kg). The sling is rated 625 lbs, and the person must be inside both ratings.

Can it stay under the person all day?

Spacer fabric allows it to stay in place while seated, but only when a clinician has documented the reason.

Funding and returns

Funding may help: see who may help pay. A sling that has touched skin may not be returnable.

Handicare covers the sling for 1 year from installation or 18 months from manufacture, whichever is shorter; see the Warranty tab.
