Description
The Handicare AdjustmentLoop is an extension strap for the lift straps of a Handicare sling. It comes in an 18 cm length (49182006) and a 28 cm length (49182007).
What does it do and how does it work?
It lengthens a sling strap so the carer can set a more reclined or more upright position, or improve the balance of a person with hemiplegia.
- The 18 cm loop adds about 12 cm (4.72 in) to the strap.
- The 28 cm loop adds about 22 cm (8.66 in).
- It is knotted around the sling's strap loop and then hung on the sling bar.
- It can also be used on a leg section to reduce the opening and help stop the person sliding out.
Who is it for, and who should choose something else?
It suits a carer adjusting the position of a person already in a Handicare sling.
- It fits all Handicare seated slings with divided legs, and undivided seated slings except BariSling.
- It also fits StretcherSling and SafeHandlingSheet up to 300 kg, plus StandingVest, WalkingVest and LimbSling.
- It is not a sling on its own and does not replace the sling or lift.
Will it fit?
Both lengths are rated 300 kg (660 lb).
- The rating does not raise the sling or lift limit; the lowest safe working load in the system applies.
- Choose 18 cm for a small adjustment and 28 cm for a longer extension.
- Tell us the sling you have and we confirm the right loop.
Using it day to day
Knot the loop around the strap loop and tighten it, then hang the free loop on the sling bar.
- Start raising the lift and stop to check that the loop and sling are seated correctly.
- For a leg section, fit the loop to reduce the opening.
- Check the seams, material and knots before each use, and discard a worn loop.
What does it work with, and what are its limits?
The loops are polyester.
- Follow the care label; do not use a rinsing agent.
- Avoid tumble-drying to prolong the life of the loop.
- Do not use a loop with a sling or lift that is not rated for the load.
How does it compare?
- Patient lift slings: the slings these loops extend.
- Sit-to-stand slings: the vests the loops can also fit.
- Patient lifts: the lifts they hang from.
