Description
Handicare TurnTableSoft, item 5086, is a padded transfer disc for turning a seated person. It is 17.7 in (450 mm) across and rated 330 lb (150 kg). It is not a lifting sling; the 15.7 in disc is item 5087.
Where is it used?
- Mainly for transfers to and from a car seat, and also on chairs and beds.
- Two padded discs with an anti-friction layer between them glide against each other, so the person can rotate.
- Place it on the surface before the person sits.
- Do not use it on leather or rubberized upholstery.
On a car seat
- Place the disc in the middle of the seat.
- The person sits at an angle with the legs outside the car, then rotates the legs in.
- They can stay seated on the disc during travel, and must always wear a seatbelt.
On a bed
Place it near the edge at a level that lets the head rest on the pillow when the person lies down.
Which size?
- 5086 is 17.7 in (450 mm) across.
- 5087 is the smaller 15.7 in (400 mm) disc, sold as a separate item.
Checks and care
- Check the seams and fabric, and test that the disc still glides freely. Inspect it after each wash.
- Discard it if the seams or fabric are worn or faded.
- Machine wash at 140 to 176 F (60 to 80 C), and tumble low at 104 to 120 F (40 to 50 C). Do not use rinse aid or fabric softener; skip the dryer for the longest life.
- If disinfection is needed, use 70 percent ethanol or 45 percent isopropanol.
- The expected life is as much as 10 years with normal use. That is not a warranty term.
