The JAY Foot Box from Sunrise Medical rests on a wheelchair's footrests and holds the foot, ankle and calf clear of the hangers and plates when high tone drives the feet down.
What does it do, and how does it work?
- High-resiliency foam over a wood base, covered in Reverse Dartex.
- The foam cradles the foot, ankle and calf away from hard hangers and footplates.
- Single Foot Box: one side only.
- Full Foot Box with Divider: both feet, with a divider for protection and positioning.
- Full Foot Box: both feet in one opening.
Who is it for, and who should choose something else?
- For flexor tone that presses the feet into the footplates, or skin that breaks down against hardware.
- Single for one side, Full for both feet, Divider for feet that cross or rub.
Will it fit?
- A flared frame or offset hanger takes seat width plus 2 in (5 cm); a 0 in inset takes seat width; 1 in (2.5 cm) inset takes 2 in less; 2 in (5 cm) inset takes 4 in less.
- Single: 8 in (20 cm) deep standard or 12 in (30 cm) tall. Full: 12 to 22 in (30 to 56 cm) wide. Divider: 16 to 22 in (41 to 56 cm) wide.

Using it day to day
- Contact surface: Micro Climatic, Naugahyde or sheep skin.
- Side band covers come in ten colours.

Does a foot box replace the footrest?
No. It sits on the existing footrest; the therapist decides whether it is needed.
Can the surface or colour be changed later?
No. Both are chosen at order, so we set them with you up front.
Is it sold as a pair?
Each box is one unit. The Full and Divider styles cover both feet; the Single covers one side.
