Description
N301AL adds 4 in (10 cm) to a Joerns EasyCare bed; N302AL adds 8 in (20 cm). Both are separate kits from the bed's built-in 80, 84 or 88 in deck. See hospital beds.
Sizes
- 4 in (10 cm): N301AL. It adds about 4 in so an 84 in (213 cm) mattress can sit on an 80 in (203 cm) deck, or an 80 in mattress on a 76 in (193 cm) deck.
- 8 in (20 cm): N302AL.
Which kit
- N301AL replaced the older N342AL 4 in kit.
- The 80, 84 and 88 in (203, 213 and 224 cm) lengths are built into the EasyCare deck, so check which length the bed already has.
- Tell us the bed model and serial before you order a kit.
Foot panel and mattress
- The kit needs the foot board installed. Without it, weight on the open end can break the kit.
- Set the mattress against the mattress stop so it covers the whole deck. A gap at either board can trap a head or a neck.
- If a foam bolster fills an 84 or 88 in length, put the bolster at the head.
- Do not remove the bed panel while the deck is in an 84 or 88 in extension position.
- After the kit is on, check the longer bed still leaves a clear path in the room.
- The EasyCare fixed-width sleep surface is 35 in (89 cm) wide by 80 in (203 cm) long before a length kit. The kit does not change the width.
- The 600 lb (272 kg) safe working load is the bed's rating, not the kit's.

Frequently asked questions
Is the 8 in kit the same part as the 4 in kit?
No. N301AL is 4 in (10 cm). N302AL is 8 in (20 cm). Pick the one that matches the gap you need to close.
Does the kit replace the bed's built-in longer deck?
No. The 80, 84 and 88 in lengths are built into the bed. These two item numbers are the separate 4 in and 8 in kits.
Can the extender be used with no foot panel?
No. The foot board has to be on the kit. Weight on the open end can break it.
