A Mobility Specialties manual tilt wheelchair rental in Toronto and the GTA is pushed by a caregiver. The seat angle can change while the person stays seated.
What does it do and how does it work?
A caregiver pushes the chair and sets the seat angle. It is not a chair the person wheels all day.
- The chair can stay as long as care needs it.
- At drop-off we show the tilt and the brakes on the chair that is free.
- It is looked over and kept in service before it goes out. If the tilt will not hold, or a brake feels loose, stop and call (905) 798-1853. See service and repairs.
Who is it for, and who should choose something else?
- Long periods of sitting, when a caregiver must change the angle.
- If the person will propel a chair, start with wheelchairs or how to choose a wheelchair.
- To own a tilt chair, see tilt wheelchairs.
Will it fit?
We confirm which chair is free, the seat size, the cushion, the legrests and the charges before anything is booked.
- Tell us the person's height and weight, who pushes, and the doorway.
- Seat widths on the booking are 16, 18 or 20 in (about 41, 46 or 51 cm), with the same depth.
- The cushion is foam, gel or ROHO. Legrests are standard or elevating.
- Our team brings the chair to the home, sets it up, and picks it up when you are done, across Toronto and the GTA. A fee can apply. Call (905) 798-1853 or use our rental page.
Which setup?
- Choose a 16, 18 or 20 in seat when you book.
- Choose a foam, gel or ROHO cushion.
- Choose standard legrests or elevating legrests.
Using it day to day
- A caregiver pushes. Plan who will do that on each outing.
- When you are finished, call and we pick the chair up. See rentals.
What does it work with, and what are its limits?
- Give us the person's weight so the chair we book can carry them.
- A cushion you buy later is separate. See cushions.
- It is not a hospital bed. Some homes also rent a hospital bed.
How does it compare?
- Tilt wheelchairs to buy stay after the rental ends.
- A folding wheelchair rental is the chair that folds for a car, pushed by someone else.
- How to choose a wheelchair is the place to start if the person will propel it.
Frequently asked questions
What if the tilt will not hold?
Stop using the chair and call (905) 798-1853. Our technicians repair it during the rental if the tilt or a brake fails.
Which seat width should I ask for?
Tell us the hip width. The booking offers 16, 18 or 20 in, and we match the chair that is free.
Will this tilt chair fit in a car?
Ask when we book. We will say whether that chair folds or comes apart. Our team delivers it, so the car matters only for outings.
