Description
The Span America Geo-Mattress Max, code MX8035-29, is a therapeutic foam mattress, 80 x 35 x 6 in (203 x 89 x 15 cm). It has a 2 in Geo-Matt top, a visco-elastic heel section and firm perimeter bolsters.
What does it do and how does it work?
It combines three foam tiers with a segmented top surface.
- The 2 in (5 cm) Geo-Matt top has 800 cells in three zones, head, torso and foot.
- The core is a three-tier progressive-resistance foam.
- Ring-of-Air channels move heat and moisture away.
- Memory foam on the Heel Slope cushions the heels.
- The cover is fluid-repellent and anti-microbial, with a neoprene/butyl underside and a hidden zipper.
Who is it for, and who should choose something else?
It suits a person up to 400 lbs (181 kg) whose care team chooses a static therapeutic foam surface.
- The person's nurse, doctor or therapist decides which surface suits their skin and risk.
- Choose a powered surface if the care plan needs alternating pressure or low air loss.
- Choose the bariatric surface for a heavier user.
Will it fit?
Match the 35 x 80 in mattress to the deck.
- Capacity is 400 lbs (181 kg); the lower of that and the bed's safe working load applies.
- The 6 in (15 cm) height changes the transfer height and the rail gaps. Health Canada advises gaps under 120 mm (4 3/4 in) in zones 1 to 3 and 60 mm (2 3/8 in) in zone 4.
- Other Max codes cover 75, 78 and 84 in lengths and the wider consumer sizes.
- A used mattress cannot be returned under our return policy.
Using it day to day
Place it on the deck and make the bed as usual.
- There is no pump, hose or power cord.
- Wipe the cover clean.
- The firm bolsters at the perimeter help with transfers and edge sitting.
What does it work with, and what are its limits?
It is a foam mattress replacement.
- It does not provide alternating pressure or low air loss.
- The bolsters are foam inside the cover, not bed rails.
- It does not change the bed's safe working load.
How does it compare?
The Geo-Mattress Plus has two foam layers and a different warranty. The Pro is a single-layer foam mattress. A powered alternating mattress adds active therapy. See foam mattresses.
Frequently asked questions
Does it need power?
No. It is foam with no pump, hose or cord.
Does it fit a 35 in deck?
It is 35 in wide and 80 in long. Measure the deck and the rail gaps before you order.
Do the bolsters work like bed rails?
No. They are foam edges that help transfers and edge sitting; they are not a rail.
Are other lengths available?
Yes, in separate Max codes: 75, 78 and 84 in, plus the wider consumer sizes.
