Description
The Quantum TRU-Balance 3 HD is a bariatric power tilt seating system for a heavy duty Quantum mid-wheel base. The seating is rated to 450 lbs, tilts 50 degrees and reclines from 85 to 175 degrees.
Who it suits
- A heavier rider who needs powered tilt for pressure relief through the day.
- A rider who needs a wide seat: power tilt runs 20 to 32 in wide by 20 to 25 in deep.
- A rider whose seating is written by a therapist. Seat width is ordered independently of back width at no extra charge.
Seating and fit
- The Synergy and static versions run 20 to 32 in wide by 20 to 28 in deep; power tilt is 20 to 25 in deep; the lift and tilt combination is 20 to 24 in wide.
- With power tilt the seat sits 18.5 to 20.5 in off the floor.
- Cantilever armrests rotate internally or externally, and a cup holder and tool kit come with the seating.
- The power articulating foot platform is rated to the same 450 lbs.
Tilt, recline and lift
- Fifty degrees of tilt and 85 to 175 degrees of recline, both driven from the joystick.
- Power tilt and recline can be retrofitted later if the chair is ordered without them.
- The iLevel lift raises the seat 10 in, lowers capacity to 400 lbs and allows driving at up to 5.5 km/h while elevated.

- Quantum Canada lists the Q6 Edge HD as the compatible base: Mid-Wheel 6 drive with ATX Suspension, six wheels on the ground.

Power and electronics
- Top speed is up to 7.5 km/h on 4-pole motors.
- Two Group 24 batteries weigh about 52 lbs each, charged by an 8A off-board charger.

- Stay within 450 lbs, or 400 lbs with the iLevel lift, and measure the 26.25 in base against your narrowest doorway.
- At 143.5 lbs before batteries and seating, the chair needs a lift or a ramp van.

Warranty details
Quantum Rehab warrants the TRU-Balance 3 HD power tilt seating system, as part of a Quantum power chair, to the original purchaser from the date of purchase, and repairs or replaces parts that an authorized Quantum representative finds defective in material or workmanship.
- Power seat actuator and metal seat framing: 2 years.
- Bearings and bushings: 6 months.
- Warranty service is done by a Quantum Rehab provider. Labour, service calls and shipping are not covered unless Quantum approves them in advance.
- Excludes wear items such as upholstery and seating, plastic shrouds and fuses, and damage from abuse, misuse, accident, neglect, contamination, commercial use, or improper operation, maintenance or storage.
