Description
The R82 Toucan is a standing frame for a child who cannot hold a standing position without support. It holds the child upright or prone while the upper body is supported, and the open frame and low step-in height let the child step in from a seated position.
Who it is for
It suits a child or young person who needs postural support to stand and who can be positioned with supports at the top of the pelvis or higher.
It is for indoor use at home, at school or in a clinic, not outdoors or in wet areas. It is not a wheelchair and not a gait trainer, and a child must not ride in it in a vehicle.
- Choose the size by user mass, not by age.
- If the child is near the size limit or moves a lot, step up a size.
- Never leave the child unattended in the frame.
- Lock the four castors before placing the child in it.
Sizes and item numbers
Five sizes, 861001 to 861005, carry user masses of 30, 40, 50, 60 and 70 kg. The maximum rated load includes the frame and is 39.5, 50.5, 61, 72.5 and 82.75 kg. Device mass is 7.5 to 10.75 kg. Overall width is 560 to 700 mm and overall height 670 to 1540 mm, depending on the size and the angle.
Adjustment
The centre bar angles from 0 to 30 degrees on sizes 1 to 3 and from 0 to 20 degrees on sizes 4 and 5. The handle has a security lock that is pulled out before it turns. The foot plate adjusts from 15 degrees to minus 10 degrees and sits 60 mm above the floor.
Frame colour follows the size: red for size 1, blue for sizes 2 and 3, silver for sizes 4 and 5.
Accessories
Every size takes every accessory, mounted in slots in the centre bar. The range includes chest supports, back support 861401, abdominal support 861411, front, rear and surrounding hip supports, a hip support with de-rotation, head supports, flip-up and formed foot plates, heel stops, arm rests and a toy bar. Supports are separate from the frame.
Care and inspection
The frame wipes clean and can be washed at 60 C with a mild detergent. Inspect it yearly, after storage of more than four months and before it is reissued; check the castors and their locks, the column angle lock, and the nuts and bolts. The expected lifetime is eight years with maintenance.

Warranty details
Etac warrants the R82 Toucan standing frame against defects in workmanship and materials. Etac may inspect a claimed product and decides whether to repair or replace it.
- Workmanship and materials: 2 years.
- Breakage of the metal frame caused by weld defects: 5 years.
- Valid only in the country of purchase, for a product identified by its serial or lot number.
- Excludes accidental damage, misuse, neglect, and wear items such as tyres and upholstery.
- Void if non-original parts or accessories are used, or if servicing, maintenance, repair or changes do not follow the user guide.
