Description
The Savaria two-post free-standing gantry (M920801) is a portable frame with a rail for a Savaria ceiling lift, for rooms where a fixed track cannot be fitted.
What does it do and how does it work?
Two posts carry a rail on low feet, and a Savaria portable lift runs along the rail to move a person from bed to wheelchair and back.
- The frame assembles and comes apart quickly, so it can be moved between rooms.
- The low feet leave a path for a wheelchair.
- It needs no fixed track in the ceiling.
- The lift motor, trolley and sling are separate parts.
Who is it for, and who should choose something else?
It suits a home or care setting where a fixed track is not possible or the need is short term.
- A health professional confirms the person is suitable for a ceiling-style lift transfer.
- For a room with a sound ceiling and a long-term need, a fixed ceiling lift may suit better.
- For a lift that stands on the floor with its own mast, see patient lifts.
Will it fit?
The frame is set from the room height and the span you need.
- Its safe working load is 286 lb (130 kg), 440 lb (200 kg) or 600 lb (272 kg), depending on the span.
- The span chart tag on the legs gives the load for the frame delivered; we confirm the span and the rating before the order.
- The base assembly weighs 71 lb (32 kg), each post 16 lb (7.2 kg), and the track 2.2 lb per foot (3.14 kg/m).
- An authorized Savaria dealer installs it, and two people are recommended when the ceiling is 98 in (249 cm) or lower.
Using it day to day
The trolley and end stops fit to the rail, and the portable lift runs on the track.
- Use it only with a Savaria ceiling track and ceiling lift.
- Do not push, bump or strike the rail or posts, because damage can tip the frame.
- Keep all parts clean and dry, and check the frame before each use.
What does it work with, and what are its limits?
It is a transfer frame, not a complete lift.
- Use it only to transfer a person, not for any other purpose.
- Floor anchor bolts are optional.
- The frame has a useful life of 10 years, after which it must be replaced.
What care does it need?
Wipe the frame with a damp cloth, warm water and a cleaner, or with wipes that contain 70% isopropyl alcohol.
- Do not use phenol, chlorine or solvents.
- Rub the frame to clean it thoroughly, then dry it.
How does it compare?
- Fixed ceiling lifts: a permanent track in the ceiling.
- Patient lifts: mobile floor lifts with their own mast.
Frequently asked questions
