Handicare Supreme arm support sling, item B-ARM

The Handicare Supreme arm support sling, item B-ARM, wraps one arm for underarm washing, a transfer, or a procedure. It is one size, for a person up to 352 lb (159 kg).

What does it do and how does it work?

The sling lifts the arm a short way off the bed.

• Silva-Spacer with COOLMAX and COOLMAX freshFX EcoMade. The body is 35 1/2 in (90 cm) long and 17 3/4 in (45 cm) deep.
• The curved side goes toward the underarm. Long straps feed through the loops on the opposite side, then both loops go on the carry bar.
• Sliders set the strap length. Use a loop carry bar or a coat-hanger bar, not a clip bar.

Who is it for, and who should choose something else?

• For underarm hygiene, or to hold one arm during a transfer or a procedure, when the person is up to 352 lb (159 kg).
• Not a full-body sling. The person stays on the bed, or on a separate sling.
• If the job is the abdominal apron, use the pannus sling, item B-PAN. If the job is the leg, use item B-LEG.

Will it fit?

B-ARM is one size. The straps adjust with sliders.

• Set it in the centre of the arm, curved side toward the underarm.
• We confirm your bar is a loop bar or a coat-hanger bar before you order.

Using it day to day

• Wrap the sling around the arm and pass the long straps through the loops on the far side. Put both loops on the carry bar.
• Raise the arm only a few inches and check comfort before you go higher. To refit, lower the arm back onto the bed first.
• Before each use, check straps, fabric, and the label. Retire the sling if a strap is frayed or the label is illegible.
• Wash at up to 203 F (95 C), hook-and-loop closed, with a non-biological detergent. Tumble dry low, max 50 C. Do not iron.

What does it work with, and what are its limits?

Use it with a loop lift or a standard coat-hanger spreader bar. Do not put the loops on a stud or clip bar.

• This sling stops at 352 lb (159 kg). The lift has to cover that weight too.
• It supports one arm. It will not move someone from a bed to a chair on its own.
• Do not add straps or alter the sling.

How does it compare?

• Pannus support, item B-PAN, holds the abdominal apron during hygiene. It is also one size, at 352 lb (160 kg).
