Description
The Handicare Supreme pannus support sling, item B-PAN, holds the abdominal apron so a caregiver can wash the skin underneath. Silvalea makes it in the UK for Savaria.
What does it do and how does it work?
B-PAN lifts the pannus for hygiene on a bed, by hand or from a loop lift.
- Navy Silva-Superfine with COOLMAX EcoMade has 2-way stretch and wicks moisture.
- The curved edge goes against the stomach, the label faces down, and grey markers show the centre.
- Two cam-buckle straps wrap a plus-size bed frame. Loop straps go to the lift.
Who is it for, and who should choose something else?
- For a person whose apron blocks washing or a skin check, at or under 352 lb (160 kg).
- It supports the abdomen on a bed. It does not carry someone into a chair.
Will it fit?
One size. The fabric body is 38 1/2 in (98 cm) across and 23 3/4 in (60 cm) deep. Straps sit outside that panel.
- Stay at or under 352 lb (160 kg). If the lift is rated lower, stop at the lift's limit.
- Buckle the bed straps around the bedstead, not the mattress.
- We confirm your bar is a loop bar before you order. A clip bar will not take these straps.
Using it day to day
- Slide the curved side under the apron, label down, with the grey markers on the midline.
- Set the cam buckle on the bedstead, then bring the panel over the stomach so it encases the apron.
- Raise the loop straps, or hold the apron from the head of the bed or the sides. Do not lift until every strap is secure.
- Before each use, check for frayed straps, holes, and a readable label. Remove the sling if a check fails.
- Wash at up to 159 F (71 C) with a non-biological detergent, hook-and-loop closed. Tumble dry low, max 50 C. Do not iron.
What does it work with, and what are its limits?
It works with a loop lift, including a coat-hanger spreader bar.
- A stronger hoist does not raise the sling past 352 lb (160 kg).
- It is not a limb lifter or a stretcher. Agree this one size in a risk assessment before use.
- Do not add straps or change the buckles. An alteration Silvalea did not make can cause serious injury.
How does it compare?
- Supreme arm support, B-ARM holds one arm. Same 352 lb (160 kg), wash up to 203 F (95 C).
- Supreme leg support, B-LEG holds one leg for hygiene and wound care, with that hotter wash.
- B-PAN wraps the apron and washes only to 159 F (71 C). A full-body move needs a sling from the sling categories or the patient lift sling range.
Frequently asked questions
Does it include a head support?
No. B-PAN is the apron panel only. It has no head support and no head pad to add.
Can it stay under the person between washes?
No. Put B-PAN on for the hygiene task, then take it off. It is not a leave-in repositioning sheet.
Can I dry it on a radiator?
No. Do not lay B-PAN on a heater or steam pipes. Use low tumble dry, max 50 C.
