Description
The Agility Max Contour Backrest is a rigid wheelchair back made by ROHO, a Permobil brand: a deeply contoured shell dressed with an air cell pad over the side bolsters and a lumbar pad.
Permobil has announced a phase-out of Agility Max. We confirm the chosen size and hardware are available before any order.

Who is it for?
- The Agility Max Contour Back is for a wheelchair user whose prescription calls for a deep, shaped back that follows the person's trunk, with air support at the sides.
- Choose the right back in a seating assessment with an occupational therapist or physiotherapist.
Will it fit?
- ROHO sizes the Max Contour by width and height, and it lists the back from 14 to 20 inches wide and 16, 18 or 20 inches high, so the size chart is a full grid rather than a short list of stock pairs.
How does it work?
- The Max Contour is a rigid contoured shell with a fitted Agility cover, and ROHO fits it with two separate pads: an air cell pad (AG6-AIR) that sits over the side bolsters, and a lumbar pad (AGLUM) for the lower trunk.
- Choose quick-release (-1), fixed (-2), or a direct mount for a compatible Permobil Corpus power chair. Direct mount needs a 16-inch back length.
What are the care limits?
- Replacement covers are listed by ROHO for each standard back size.
What else compares?
- Prism Air Back: a rigid back with adjustable air inserts.
- Prism Ultra Back: a rigid foam back with built-in laterals.
Frequently asked questions
Will the Agility hardware fit my wheelchair?
Agility hardware comes as a quick-release set, a fixed set, or a direct mount for some Permobil power wheelchairs with compatible Corpus seating.
Can the back be taken off the wheelchair?
Yes, if it is ordered with the quick-release hardware, which is the version whose part number ends in (-1).
Can a headrest be used with the Agility Max Contour Back?
ROHO lists a universal headrest adapter plate (AG-HR-BRKT) for Agility backs, which is ordered as a separate item along with the headrest itself.
