Description

The AquaSense Ergonomic Folding Bath Seat 770-525 is a white bath chair for someone who can step into the tub or shower and wants back support. Its plastic seat and back sit on a rust-resistant aluminum frame rated 250 lbs (113 kg).

What does it do and how does it work?

  • Seat and back: a contoured plastic seat with drainage holes and a flex-comfort backrest with a carry handle.
  • Frame: four aluminum legs lock in with push buttons; the plastic parts use recycled material.
  • Height: seven positions set the seat top from 15 to 20 in (38 to 51 cm).
  • Feet: angled, non-skid rubber tips, not suction cups.
  • Folding: the back and legs fold to about 11 by 8.5 in (28 by 22 cm).
  • Assembly: the legs push in and click; no tools are needed.

Who is it for, and who should choose something else?

  • It suits a person who can step over the tub wall and needs a back while bathing.
  • It suits a shared bathroom, because it folds away between baths.
  • Choose a transfer bench if the person cannot step over the tub wall.

Will it fit?

  • Measure the flat tub or shower floor, not the rim; all four tips need level ground.
  • Set all four legs to the same hole; the seat top is then 15 to 20 in (38 to 51 cm) from the floor.
  • Folded, it takes about 11 by 8.5 in (28 by 22 cm).
  • The 250 lb (113 kg) rating covers this folding frame; a heavier person needs a rigid seat rated 300 lbs (136 kg).

Using it day to day

  • Push each leg in until the button pops out; a button that stays in means the leg is not locked.
  • Open the seat until it clicks, then check the four buttons before the person sits.
  • Adjust the height before the person sits, and rinse the seat after use.
  • Check the rubber tips for splits and replace a worn tip before the next bath.

What does it work with, and what are its limits?

  • It works in a bathtub or shower with a flat floor and room for the four legs.
  • Use it for sitting only; do not stand on the seat or use it as a bath step.
  • It has no arms and no clamp, so it cannot help a person pull up from the floor.
  • Replacement tips (A04-401, set of four), push-button sets (B04-252) and legs (B04-001) are sold as parts.
  • Five-year limited warranty; see the Warranty tab.

How does it compare?

  • 770-537 keeps the back and carries 300 lbs (136 kg), but does not fold.
  • 770-535 is the rigid backless seat with the same 300 lb (136 kg) rating.
  • A transfer bench lets a person sit outside the tub and slide across.

Frequently asked questions

Is there an opening in the seat?

No. The seat is solid plastic with drainage holes; its front edge is contoured, but it is not a commode seat.

Do I have to put the legs back after each bath?

No. The legs stay clicked in while it folds; open the seat until it clicks.

What if a rubber tip wears out?

Stop using the chair until the tip is replaced. Drive sells a set of four rubber tips, part A04-401.
