The Beka Carlo Alu Classic 185, item 924003218, is an electric floor lift with a 6-point carry bar for loop slings. The carton holds two batteries and a wall-mount charger.
What does it do?
It raises a person from the floor, bed or bath and moves them indoors on smooth, level floors.
- The aluminium frame rides on four 100 mm (3.9 in) double castors, two with brakes.
- The 6-point bar lowers to floor level and turns 360 degrees on an anti-rotation mechanism.
- The legs spread with power from the handset or the control unit.
Who is it for, and who should choose something else?
It suits a person up to 185 kg (408 lb) who is transferred in a loop sling and cannot stand.
- A clinician assesses the person first; osteoporosis, spinal damage, mental confusion or epilepsy need the doctor's agreement.
- Someone who can stand with help may do better with a sit-to-stand lift.
- Above 185 kg, see heavy-duty patient lifts; the Carlo Classic 230 is item 924003008.
- Clip slings do not fit this bar; the Carlo Comfort EP takes them.
Will it fit the room?
Measure the doorway, bed or bath, and ceiling first.
- Closed, it is 70.0 cm (27.6 in) wide outside and 129.0 cm (50.8 in) long, on a 12.5 cm (4.9 in) base.
- Open, it is 118.0 cm (46.5 in) wide outside, with 104.0 cm (40.9 in) between the legs.
- The mast runs from 134.0 to 217.0 cm (52.8 to 85.4 in), and the bar travels from 20.0 to 158.0 cm (7.9 to 62.2 in).
- The turning radius is 135.0 cm (53.1 in).
Which sling fits?
The 6-point bar takes loop slings only.
- Beka nylon transfer, bathing and toilet slings come in S to XXL.
- Body-weight guide: S 35-65 kg, M 55-85 kg, L 75-125 kg, XL 120-160 kg, XXL 160-210 kg.
- They wash at 60 C (140 F).
Using it day to day
Charge both batteries and release the emergency stop before first use.
- Brake the rear castors, spread the legs, lower the bar and attach the sling loops.
- The motor runs 2 minutes, then needs an 18 minute pause; do not use the lift while a battery charges.
- If the handset fails, the control unit buttons work. For manual lowering, slide the red lock on the motor upward and the motor lowers slowly; putting the lock back stops it.
- The lift is IPX4 and the battery and charger IPX5. Wipe the frame with soapy water, disinfect with isopropyl alcohol, and book the yearly safety check.

Is the scale included?
No. The scale retrofit is 924003400 and the calibrated scale 924003300.
What if the handset fails?
The control unit buttons raise and lower the bar, and electrical emergency lowering works from the same unit.
Funding, setup and delivery

We assemble the lift, charge a battery and show the controls and both lowering routes across Toronto and the GTA. Opening the lift, or fitting parts Beka has not approved, ends the warranty.
