Description
A care bathroom often needs the person lying back to be washed properly. The Beka James does the tilting for you, on a frame built for a wet room. This is part 920125000, the JAMES in BAROLO.
Two tilts, one remote
The chassis reclines to 25 degrees and the backrest adds 30 of its own, so the seat reaches 55 degrees together. The movement is stepless, so the carer stops where the washing needs it.
The cable remote keeps two memory keys for the positions a floor uses most, and preset keys for Park and Clean.
Transfers and working height
The seat travels 300 mm, from 515 mm (20.3 in) to 820 mm (32.3 in), taking the chair from a sitting transfer to a height that spares the carer's back.
Four braked castors: lock them before a transfer, a height change or a tilt. The armrests, leg supports and footrests swing clear, and the chair parks over a Beka NORA or CARLO lift.
Hygiene and cleaning
The nursing opening locks shut for showering and opens for commode use; a bedpan holder is available. The PUR foam seat and back are 495 mm wide, or 545 mm in the XL set.
Battery and safety
The chair runs on its own battery: the charge lead is magnetic and takes about six hours from flat. It may not be used while charging.
If the power goes, the motors hold the seat rather than letting it drop, and an emergency stop sits on the chair. The electrics are splash-proof, protection class II, type B applied part, rated for two minutes of movement then an 18-minute pause.
A doctor should be consulted before use where there is osteoporosis, back pain, brittle bone disease, mental confusion or seizures.
