Core Mattress by Blake Medical

The Blake Core (CORE3680) is a 6" (15 cm) two-layer foam mattress, 36" x 80" (91 x 203 cm), for a person whose skin is not the reason for the mattress. There is no pump.

What does it do and how does it work?

• The base is 4" (10 cm) of firm single-density foam, for support. The top is 2" (5 cm) of plush polyurethane, for comfort.
• Firm side bolsters give a firmer edge for transfers. They are foam inside the mattress, not rails.
• The cover is 4-way stretch, antimicrobial, fluid-proof and wipeable. Nothing plugs in.

Who is it for, and who should choose something else?

• Blake states it is for people whose skin integrity is not a concern and who want a comfortable, supportive surface.
• A nurse, doctor or therapist decides whether plain foam is appropriate.
• If skin breakdown is the concern, choose the Infusion (gel mixed into foam) or the G2 (gel columns for stage I to II healing). Choose alternating pressure for a pump.

Will it fit?

• CORE3680 is 36" x 80" x 6" (91 x 203 x 15 cm). A 35" (89 cm) width is a separate custom, not this standard size.
• Confirm the deck width and the order code before you buy. It will not cover an 84" deck. Many homecare hospital beds are 36" x 80".
• Capacity is 350 lbs (160 kg). A 500 lb (227 kg) build is custom. If the bed lifts less, use the bed's number.
• Health Canada guidance keeps gaps under 120 mm (4 3/4 in) beside the mattress and under 60 mm (2 3/8 in) at the rail ends. Check the rails against this 6" height.

Using it day to day

• Lay it flat on the deck and wipe the cover. There is no firmness dial and no cord.

What does it work with, and what are its limits?

• It replaces the mattress. It has no gel and no pressure-injury stage range.
• Warranty is 5 years on the mattress and 1 year on the cover. See warranty. Other foam beds are on the foam mattress hub.

Which version should I choose?

• This product is the 36" CORE3680. The 35" custom is a different width. Ask for 500 lbs (227 kg) only when that build is required.

How does it compare?

• The Infusion adds a 2" gel-infused topper. Blake aims it at people with some mobility, at the same 350 lb (160 kg) stock rating.
• The G2 runs gel the full length for healing stage I to II injuries, and the stock rating is 300 lbs (136 kg).
