Description
The Drive Elland standard grab handle, part 15006LPSTDRAIL, is the standard-height grip for a Drive Solite Pro 15006LP.
What does it do and how does it work?
It is a standard-height hold, not a full-length rail.
- This grip is 29.5 in (74.9 cm) high. The short handle, part 15006LSHRTRAIL, is 23.5 in (59.69 cm) high.
- Raising the backrest can open a finger gap between this handle and the mattress retainers. The gap depends on position.
- Fit it from the handle's own instructions, then move the backrest through every position.
Who is it for, and who should choose something else?
It is for a care team that already has a Solite Pro 15006LP and wants the standard-height grip.
- Choose the short Elland handle when a lower grip is the one they can use.
- The Grange rails, part 15006LEXRAIL, cover the full side. This handle does not.
- Another Drive frame needs its own rail. This handle is not a restraint. The care team decides whether it is used.
Will it fit?
It fits the Solite Pro 15006LP only, with the mattress seated in the bed's retainers.
- Match the bed label to the Solite Pro 15006LP.
- The grip is 10.6 in (26.9 cm) long and 1.6 in (4.1 cm) wide.
- The handle weighs 6.6 lbs (2.9 kg).
- The carton is 28.8 x 11.9 x 4.5 in (73.1 x 30.2 x 11.43 cm).
- The carton weighs 15.4 lbs (7.0 kg).
- Seat the mattress inside the retainers at the sides and at the foot.
- If the deck is lengthened, keep the extension blocks centred. An offset block leaves a gap at the side.
Using it day to day
Check the finger gap before the person uses the bed, and again after the backrest moves.
- Raise and lower the backrest after fitting. Stop if a finger can be caught at the retainers.
- Keep hands on the grip, not in the gap beside the mattress.
- With normal service, this handle has a 10-year service life.
What does it work with, and what are its limits?
Use it only on the 15006LP, with the mattress in the retainers.
- An unapproved rail on this bed can be the wrong shape for the frame.
- Do not use a dynamic mattress while the deck is extended. There is no filler block for that gap.
- See Health Canada's hospital bed safety page on mattress fit and gaps.
How does it compare?
The short handle sits lower. The Grange rails cover the whole side.
- Short Elland handle, part 15006LSHRTRAIL, is the lower grip and has its own fitting rules.
- Grange rails, part 15006LEXRAIL, are the full-length side rails, not a grab handle.
- Other holds are on the assist rails list, and only when that maker lists the frame.
Frequently asked questions
Can I move this handle onto a PrimeCare frame?
No. It is for the Solite Pro 15006LP only. A PrimeCare or Delta frame needs its own rail.
How is it different from the short handle?
This is the standard height, part 15006LPSTDRAIL. The short handle is part 15006LSHRTRAIL and has its own fitting rules.
What should I check when the backrest rises?
The gap between this handle and the mattress retainers. A finger can be caught there, depending on position.
Does the grip run the length of the mattress?
No. The full-length side on this bed is the Grange rail, part 15006LEXRAIL, not this handle.
