Description
The Drive RTL13084 Rotating Suction-Cup Grab Bar is a removable handhold for a tub or shower wall. It is 19.75 in (50 cm) long, weighs 1 lb (0.45 kg), and pivots at the centre so it can sit straight or angled.
What does it do and how does it work?
- Length: 19.75 in (50 cm), straight or angled.
- Rotation: two halves pivot at the centre disc, each end to the hand.
- Mounting: three suction discs with tilting levers, no drilling, no tools.
- Seal check: green means holding, red means reattach before use.
- Grip: rubber non-slip strip, with moulded finger grips underneath.
Who is it for, and who should choose something else?
- For a steady point stepping over a tub wall or turning in the shower, with no fixings in the wall.
- It travels, so a tenant, caregiver or guest bathroom gets a handhold without holes in the tile.
- Choose a permanently mounted bar if the handhold will take leaning weight or pull; Drive does not rate this bar for either.
- Choose a transfer bench if the task is sitting to wash rather than standing.
Will it fit?
- The discs need a smooth, pore-tight surface: glazed tile, glass or a smooth tub surround.
- Each disc is 3.75 in (9.5 cm) across and must lie flat, at least 1/2 in (1.3 cm) clear of grout lines and joints.
- Textured tile, a grout line under a disc and dimpled surrounds will not hold the seal; clean and dry the spot first.
Using it day to day
- Lift the levers, press each disc flat, then press one lever home and then the second, feeling the resistance.
- Confirm green, test by hand before each use, and refit if it moves.
- Keep the discs free of oil and dust, wipe them with household cleaner and check the rubber for wear.
- Remove it by releasing each lever and sliding a fingertip under the seal at each end.
What does it work with, and what are its limits?
- Balance assist only: Drive states it must not support body weight and is not for leverage.
- Limited lifetime warranty for the original purchaser; see the Warranty tab.
- It holds by suction alone, so the surface and the seal decide how well it stays.
How does it compare?
An AquaSense knurled chrome grab bar with a rotating flange mounts permanently and still angles to the hand, and our knurled chrome grab bars by Aqua Sense cover the standard lengths. A raised toilet seat solves the same balance problem at the toilet.
Frequently asked questions
Will it stay on my tile?
It holds on smooth, pore-tight surfaces with every disc clear of grout lines. Test it before each use and reattach it if loose.
Can I lean my whole weight on it?
No. Drive states it is a balance assist only and must not take body weight. For leaning or pulling, use a permanently mounted bar.
How do the colour markers work?
Green means the seal is airtight and the bar is ready. Red means it is not holding, so flip the latches and reattach.
How do I take it off the wall?
Release the toggle on each of the three discs, then slide a fingertip under the seal at each end. The tile is left with no holes.
