Description
The Fortress S700 is Sunrise Medical's four-wheel outdoor scooter, rated 350 lb (159 kg), with a 15 km/h (9.3 mph) top speed and independent suspension at every wheel.
What does it do and how does it work?
- A 2700 W peak motor gives a top speed of 15 km/h (9.3 mph).
- 13 in pneumatic tires and independent suspension at each wheel; the rated slope is 10 degrees and the curb limit is 2 in (50 mm).
- LED front and rear lights, turn signals, flashers and brake lights are standard.
- The delta tiller has a wig-wag throttle and speed dial, with a 50% speed button.
- The captain seat slides, reclines and rotates; the armrests adjust for width, angle and depth.
Who is it for, and who should choose something else?
- A rider up to 350 lb (159 kg) who wants the long outdoor Fortress for varied ground.
- Choose the Fortress S410 for tighter indoor spaces; it is shorter and lighter.
- It needs a van or lift, not a car trunk.
- For postural support, ask your therapist about a power wheelchair.
Will it fit?
- Length 59 in (1499 mm), width 26 in (660 mm) and turning radius 116 in (2946 mm).
- The seat is 19 by 19 in (483 by 483 mm) and adjusts from 18 to 20.6 in (457 to 523 mm).
- It does not fold; the seat lifts off for storage. Measure the doorway and storage space.

Using it day to day
- Turn the key, set the speed dial and drive with the wig-wag throttle; the 50% button halves speed indoors.
- Charge for at least 8 hours on the 8 A off-board charger, in a ventilated room.
- Use the freewheel lever only on level ground, never while seated.
What does it work with, and what are its limits?
- The 350 lb (159 kg) limit includes the rider and accessories.
- Do not exceed the 10 degree slope or the 2 in (50 mm) curb limit.
- Avoid mud, water, snow and loose surfaces; it is for paved and firm ground.
- It is not a vehicle seat, and the airline must approve it before you fly.
Which battery and colour should I choose?
- The Group 24 70 Ah AGM battery is a paid option; batteries are not included as standard.
- Carbon grey metallic is the only colour.
How does it compare?
The Fortress S410 is shorter, with a 58.2 in turn, but its smaller wheels suit tighter spaces. The heavy-duty scooter range lists larger models.

Warranty details
Sunrise Medical warrants the Fortress S700 components for the periods below, against defects in normal use.
- Main frame weldment, steering column, tiller and tiller gas strut: 5 years.
- Controller, throttle and harnesses, motor and transaxle, drum brake, wheel rims, console and charger: 2 years.
- Shrouds, seat weldments, seat upholstery, tires and inner tubes, lights and indicators: 1 year.
- Excludes brake pads, motor brushes, wheel bearings, chain, fuses, bulbs and arm pads as wear items, cosmetic wear, and equipment modified other than by Sunrise.
- Labour is not included. Repairs are done by an authorized Sunrise Medical dealer.
