Description
The Golden Companion GC340 is the full-size three-wheel member of Golden's Companion line, with suspension front and rear and a 45" (1143 mm) turning radius.
Who is it for?
A rider to 400 lb (181.4 kg) who wants a smoother ride over pavement joints, curbs and driveways, and a tighter line than the four-wheel GC440. The three-wheel layout and 45" turn suit it to sidewalks and paved paths.
How does it drive?
Top speed is 8 km/h (5 mph). Range is up to 19 km (12 mi) on the standard U1 batteries and up to 31 km (19 mi) with the optional 50 Ah pack, and varies with load and terrain.
The maximum slope is 7.5 degrees, ridden straight up or down. Tires are solid, flat-free and non-marking at 9" front and 10.75" rear.
Braking is electro-mechanical, and the LED lighting includes a headlight, tail lights and side reflectors.
Will it fit your home and car?
It is 46" (1168 mm) long and 24.5" (622 mm) wide, with 4.5" (114 mm) of clearance under the deck and 2.5" (64 mm) at the transaxle. It weighs 207 lb (93.9 kg) assembled and disassembles for transport; the heaviest piece is about 51 lb (23.1 kg). A free home assessment can measure your doorway against the 24.5" width.
Batteries, charging and care
Two U1 sealed batteries, AGM or gel, are standard, with a larger 50 Ah pack optional. The portable 3.5 amp off-board charger takes 6 to 8 hours.
Charge after each ride, and for a week of disuse fully charge the batteries and disconnect them. Keep it out of rain, snow, mist and freezing temperatures. We replace worn batteries.
Seat, tiller and controls
The quilted high-back seat is 18" x 16" (457 x 406 mm), black, on a sliding and rotating post, and sits 23" to 25" (584 to 635 mm) off the ground in three positions.
An optional 20" x 18" stadium seat is offered. The wider delta tiller has a digital dashboard, a battery percentage gauge, a USB charging port and two cup holders.
Colours and options
Galactic Grey, Azure Blue and Crimson Red shrouds. Options include the 50 Ah battery pack, the stadium seat, a pneumatic rise seat and a 6" power elevating seat with lockout.

Delivery and service
We deliver assembled in Toronto and the GTA, set the seat and tiller, and show you how to drive, charge and take it apart. Our technicians service what we sell.
Golden's warranty covers the frame for life, the drive train and electronics for 2 years and the batteries for 1 year.
How does it compare?
The four-wheel Companion GC440 is steadier outdoors and turns wider. The mid-size three-wheel GC240 is shorter for smaller rooms, at a lower capacity.
Frequently asked questions
Can it go on a sidewalk?
In Ontario, medical scooter riders are treated as pedestrians. Check your municipality's bylaw for where they may be ridden.
Can two people lift it into a van?
It disassembles, so the whole 207 lb unit is not lifted at once. The heaviest piece is about 51 lb (23.1 kg).
Does the larger battery change the top speed?
No. Top speed stays 8 km/h either way; the optional 50 Ah pack extends range only.
What if I will not use it for a week?
Fully charge the batteries, then disconnect them from the scooter. For daily use, charge for 6 to 8 hours after each ride.
