Description
The Golden Companion GC240 is a mid-size three-wheel scooter rated 350 lb (158.8 kg), with a 37" (940 mm) turning radius and a frame that disassembles for transport.
Who is it for?
A rider to 350 lb who wants a tighter turn than a full-size Companion. The 37" radius suits smaller rooms, shops and sidewalks. If you need postural support from the seat, ask your occupational therapist whether a power wheelchair suits you better.
How does it drive?
The maximum slope is 7.5 degrees, ridden straight up or down. Tires are solid, flat-free and non-marking at 9" (229 mm) front and 10.75" (273 mm) rear. Braking is electro-mechanical, and the LED lighting includes a headlight, tail lights and side reflectors.
Will it fit your home and car?
It is 42.25" (1073 mm) long and 24" (610 mm) wide, with 3.75" (95 mm) of clearance under the deck and 2.5" (64 mm) at the transaxle. It weighs 170.8 lb (77.5 kg) assembled and disassembles for transport; the heaviest piece is about 50 lb (22.7 kg). A free home assessment can check the doorway against the 24" width.
Batteries, charging and care
Two U1 sealed batteries, AGM or gel, are standard. The portable 3.5 amp off-board charger takes 6 to 8 hours. Charge after each ride, and for a week of disuse fully charge the batteries and disconnect them. Keep it out of rain, snow, mist and freezing temperatures. We replace worn batteries.
Seat, tiller and controls
The quilted high-back seat is 18" x 16" (457 x 406 mm), black, on a sliding and rotating post, and sits 22.25" to 24.30" (565 to 617 mm) off the ground in three positions. An optional 20" x 18" stadium seat and a pneumatic rise seat are offered. The wraparound delta tiller has an auto-lock mechanism and easy-reach adjustment.

How does it compare?
The full-size Companion GC340 has more power and a wider tiller, at a longer frame. The lighter Buzzaround XL three-wheel is another Golden option. The four-wheel GC440 is steadier outdoors and turns wider.
Frequently asked questions
Can it go on a sidewalk?
In Ontario, medical scooter riders are treated as pedestrians. Check your municipality's bylaw for where they may be ridden.
What if I will not use it for a week?
Fully charge the batteries, then disconnect them from the scooter. For daily use, charge for 6 to 8 hours after each ride.
Does the seat swivel and slide?
Yes. The standard high-back seat slides and rotates, so you can face the table or the tiller.
Can two people lift it into a van?
It disassembles, so the whole 170.8 lb unit is not lifted at once. The heaviest piece is about 50 lb (22.7 kg).

Warranty details
Golden Technologies warrants the Companion 3-wheel mid size (GC240) to the initial consumer, from the date of purchase from an authorized Golden provider, against defects in materials or workmanship.
- Steel frame, frame welds, tiller frame, front fork and seat post: lifetime limited.
- Transaxle and motor/brake assembly (electrical function): 2 years.
- Controller, dash, wire harnesses, potentiometer and battery charger: 2 years.
- Batteries supplied by Golden: 1 year.
- Bearings, bushings, rubber and plastic parts, seat swivel, armrests and accessories: 1 year.
- Excludes wear items (tires and tubes, motor brushes, brake pads, plastic shrouds, bulbs and fuses, upholstery, armrest pads), misuse, commercial use and exceeding the weight capacity.
- Parts only: labour, service calls and freight are the owner's cost. A warranty registration card must be on file.
